==============================

When a mans heart is full of deceit it burns up, dies and a dark shadow falls over his soul. From the ashes of a once great man has risen a curse, a wrong that must be righted. We look to the skies for a vindicator, someone to strike fear into the black hearts of the same men who created him. The battle between good and evil has begun. Against an army of shadows comes the Dark Warrior, the purveyor of good, with a voice of silence and a mission of justice. - Steve "Sting" Borden

As I sit and read that another Minnesota soldier has passed. I feel my heart sink with grief. I'm happy that he was with his family when he passed. At least PFC Peters, His wife and their little child will be happy together where he doesn't have to worry about going back to the sandbox.

My sincere condolences for PFC Peters and his family. What a tragedy, particularly this time of the year. I do not think I will be able to attend this mission, as after wednesday's mission at Red Lake Falls, I had an extremely bad day with seizures from my epilepsy yesterday, and I am so wiped out I can barely move. Ride/drive safe, my brothers and sisters, and know that I am there in spirit.

Curiousity killed the cat, but for a while, I was a suspect.

Sometimes sadness strikes very close to home! Keith is my wife"s second cousin and he, Darlene and Bree will be missed greatly. By God's grace Michael and Sylvia were spared, and we rejoice in that. To the entire Peters family, I extend my prayers and heartfelt sadness! My wife and I were stunned when we recieved the phone call, and remain so even now. I would like to thank the Brothers and Sisters of the Patriot Guard Riders for their efforts in honoring this family, and I regret that due to work constraints, I was not able to be at the side of my fellow "Riders" as well as the Peters familiy!

16 Dec 2006 11:01 AM Alert

It was a very cool cloudy day and it wasn’t just the weather that caused it to be that way. This small town of Oklee had just suffered a terrible loss. Three of it’s population were being laid to rest after a terrible tragedy.  PFC Keith Peters, his wife Darlene, and their 5yr old daughter Bree had been taken from the town of family and friends in a fire in the family’s home. Thank God two other members of the family, Sylvia 16 and Michael 14 were staying with friends the evening of the tragic fire.

The extremely short notice funeral honor mission was attended by 4 PGR members and a church filled to capacity with a pretty fair contingent of soldiers including a General, a Colonel, and about 10 other various ranked soldiers. Our PGR members figured it to be about 200 mourners there to support the family and each other.

This very sad mission was ended at the church with the saddest part of the day, when the pallbearers brought the very small, white casket with a teddy bear and a picture of a little girl on top of it outside to put in the hearse, followed by the mothers and then the fathers casket who’s was draped with an American flag.

Our PGR was greeted with much support for our cause of showing Honor with Respect. Many shook our hands and some gave us hugs, some just said: Thank you for what you do. It was the hardest mission I’ve been on as a PGR so far.

Thank you to the family for inviting the PGR and allowing us to Honor their loved ones.

I am very sorry, I almost forgot to thank the Lumber Yard in Oklee, They went above and beyond the call of duty to make a place for us to have our meeting and have a place to warm up with coffee, friendly smiles,  support, and a rest room. We've made some new friends here.

Thank You Very Much, Dave, Randy, Ken, and Dave.

To the Peters family...what an unimaginable loss. Words don't do much. The best I can do is pray that you find comfort now and in the days ahead, that you are able to draw strength from the people around you, and that you feel peace from the love you have known.

To the four who stood in their honor...it was very last minute, and you did us proud. Thank you for being there to express the love, concern and respect we all feel for the Peters family.
