DoD Identifies Army Casualty
            The Department of Defense announced today the death of a soldier
who was supporting Operation Enduring Freedom.



            1st Sgt. Christopher C. Rafferty, 37, of Brownsville, Pa., died on
July 21 in Sharana, Afghanistan of injuries sustained on July 20, when his
unit encountered small arms fire during combat operations.  Rafferty was
assigned to 37th Engineer Battalion, Fort Bragg, N.C.



            This incident is under investigation.
