SGT Kirk “Captain Kirk” Teegardin

US Army Veteran

Anniston, AL

18 September 2008.

 

It is with much sorrow that Alabama has lost another Hero and one of our Senior Ride Captains Kirk “Captain Kirk” Teegardin.  Donna has requested the Patriot Guard Riders Stand in Honor of Kirk.  Kirk Teegardin passed away 14 Sept 08 after a brief illness at home.  Kirk was a very active member of the PGR and had just finished a mission Saturday, which had him and his lovely bride Donna receiving the ranks of Senior Ride Captains.

 

Mission:  Provide a flag Line at Sacred Heart Catholic Church Anniston, AL 18 September 2008.  We will have a flag line at the church during the visitation 10:00 – 11:00 am.  Service will be at 11:00 am, followed by an escort and military honors at Ball Rock on Mt Cheaha, which is where Kirk wanted to have his ashes spread.

 

Staging:  Will be at Books-a-Million, 900 Quintard Dr. Oxford, AL at exit 185 off I 20 at 9:00 am (0900) with KSU at 9:45 am (0945).

Weather will be mostly sunny with 84º temperatures..  Please drink plenty of water to stay hydrated and also dress for the weather.
 

If you have flags bring them.

If you are not able to make this mission then please a few minutes and go to the mission thread listed above and post your condolences to Donna and family.

Please remember that our mission is to respect and honor this fallen hero and his family.  Stand tall and proud as we salute this hero and his family for their great sacrifice!!!

It is with much sorrow that I have to announce the passing of one of our Senior Ride Captains.  Kirk Teegardin, US Army, Vietnam Veteran  passed away after a brief illness today in his home.  Kirk was a very active member of the PGR and had just finished a mission yesterday, that had him and his lovely bride Donna receiving the ranks of Senior Ride Captains. Kirk and Donna were perfectionist when performing missions, and Kirk was very adimate that Donna was the one who did 95% of the work.  Last year Kirk and Donna were involved in a motorcycle accident, and we had a mission in Sylacauga Alabama for one of our Heroes.  They were not able to ride their bike to the mission because of their injuries, but instead insisted that they bring their cage and handle the Flag Captain duties.  Kirk was also a member of the VOVMC who will be Honorary Ride Captains for the mission:
 
Kirk was a  true Patriot, true American, and a true friend.  Kirk we will all miss you very much, and we thank you so much for the memories.  You will now take your place amongst the ranks of all the Heroes in Heaven who have passed before you.  Donna we wish you and your family God Speed...............

I'm not really sure what I should say here. CJ and I had dinner with Kirk and Donna and some other friends Thursday night and everything was just fine. Kirk called me yesterday morning to ask me what I use to say when presenting a plaque to a hero's family. Kirk was a friend, he was a brother vietnam veteran, he was a member of the Veterans of Vietnam Motorcycle club, a member of the Vietnam Veterans of America, an American Legion Rider and both Kirk and Donna were extremely loyal to the Partiot Guard Riders. I missed yesterday's mission with the two of them but had the chance to work with him 2 weeks ago when both of them were Ride Captains on another mission. Kirk will be missed by all that knew him.

As arrangements are made, I'll insure that they are posted immeidately.
