Final Inspection

The soldier stood and faced God,
Which must always come to pass.
He hoped his shoes were shining.
Just as brightly as his brass.
"Step forward now,soldier.
How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To My Church have you been true?"
The soldier squared his shoulders and said,
"No, Lord, I guess I ain't.
Because those of us who carry guns,
Can't always be a saint.
I've had to work most Sundays,
And at times my talk was tough.
And sometimes I've been violent,
Because the world is awfully rough.
But, I never took a penny,
That wasn't mine to keep....
Though I worked a lot of overtime.
When the bills just got too steep.
And I never passed a cry for help,
Though at times I shook with fear.
And sometimes, God, forgive me,
I've wept unmanly tears.
I know I don't deserve a place,
Among the people here.
They never wanted me around,
Except to calm their fears.
If you've a place for me here, Lord.
It needn't be so grand.
I never expected or had too much,
But if you don’t, I’ll understand.
There was a silence all around the throne,
Where the saints had often trod.
As the soldier waited quietly,
For the judgment of his God.
"Step forward now,soldier
you’ve borne your burdens well.
Walk peacefully on Heaven’s streets;
you’ve done your time in Hell."

"Mission Accomplished"

Mission Ride Report:................. 20, September, 2008 Taunton MA,.............. I would first like to thank the family of Charles ‘Chuck’ MacLeod for inviting the Patriot Guard Riders to honor this Vietnam Veteran American Hero. The day started out a little chilly but became beautiful with sunshine . By briefing time we had a total of 13 Steel Horses and 2 cages members came from as far as Springfield Ma. From Friendly's parking lot we received a Police Escort from Taunton P.O to funeral home with Richcop blocking and as a Tail Gunner . A flag line was formed on either side of entrance door . After everyone had entered the funeral home we took a break. A flag line was again formed at the end of the service while the Massachusetts leadership presented the wife Patricia with a Patriot Guard Riders plaque . Family and friends came up to flag line and thanked each and every one of us. We dismissed and mounted our Steel Horses. On behalf of the Massachusetts Patriot Guard Riders leadership I would like to thank all for your precious time who attended as well as all those who expressed their condolences through our web site.Your attendance and professionalism made this mission a great success ! A special thanks to Taunton Police Department and the staff of the Riendeau Mulvey Funeral Home . Their assistance made this mission run smooth. To the family of Charles ‘Chuck’ MacLeod , I know I speak for all of the.... Patriot Guard Riders Members ....when I say it was our honor ........ Rest in Peace.

Charles ‘Chuck’ MacLeod
