As one of the patriot guard riders who had the privilege and honor to stand for Jon Johnson and his family, I want to give a special thank you to his family and friends. Mr. Johnson was a man who was dearly loved and will be missed by many.

To the gentle man who brought cold water outside to us at the church, I thank you. It was such a blessing to stand for a man who not only served his country during a time of war, but also served his family and community once the war was over. I was deeply touched by the thoughtfulness of his family and loved ones who took the time to honor this Hero. Watching each of them present him with a single flower brought tears to my eyes, and as we walked away, they all turned and watch as we filed out. We were there to honor their Hero, and yet they honored us as well. Thank you for allowing us to say goodbye to another of our country's Heroes with you.

A special thank you to the son of this Hero, who took the time to walk down the hill as we were getting ready to ride away. He walked down the line of bikes that were left and shook each of our hands as if we had done something deserving of a thank you, when the truth is we owe his father, and all those like him, such a debt of gratitude that it can never be repaid, for without them, we would not have the freedom to stand for them now.

Thank you Jon Johnson, may the sorrow of your passing quickly turn into fond memories of your life, for those who are sorely missing you now.
