A Soldier's Prayer
(author unknown)

Do not stand at my grave and weep
I am not there; I do not sleep.

I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond glints on snow,
I am the sun on ripened grain,
I am the gentle autumn rain.

When you awaken in the morning's hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.

Do not stand at my grave and cry,
I am not there; I did not die.

"Thank you," PFC Dinterman, for your courage and dedication to the safety and freedom of our country. Your sacrifice will not be forgotten. All of Pennsylvania mourns your loss. America is a little poorer, for one of her Soldiers died today. It will be my honor to stand for you and your family. To the Dinterman family:
"I feel how weak and fruitless must be any words of mine which should attempt to beguile you from the grief of a loss so overwhelming. But I cannot refrain from tendering to you the consolation that may be found in the thanks of the Republic he died to save. I pray that our Heavenly Father may assuage the anguish of your bereavement, and leave you only the cherished memory of the loved and lost, and the solemn pride that must be yours, to have laid so costly a sacrifice upon the altar of Freedom."
Standing by in Harrisburg.

PFC Dinterman, you are so truly appreciated. You stand now a hero at heaven's gates, along with all our fallen warriors who have gone before you. Rest easy now, young Michael, and know that you will be forever remembered here.

Thank you for your service and sacrifice in defending and protecting our freedoms. As a nation we mourn your loss, and we will remember you always as a true American hero. To the family, I offer my prayers and support. I understand a little of what you are going through-my son, a Marine LCpl, was killed in Iraq. I pray wonderful memories of your dear warrior help eventually to ease the pain you endure today. Your hero will never be forgotten-he leaves a legacy of honor and courage that few will ever achieve. As I get ready to write to you, the words fall away as almost meaningless because of the pain I know you feel. I know, because I have felt that pain.

Know that you are NOT alone on this difficult path. Others are there to help you: reach out and embrace them, for they are offering not only themselves, but sharing with you that little bit of the Almighty that resides in all of us. This offering/sharing is what WILL give you the strength you will need to get thru. Trust me.

Any service related death, on or off duty, whether accident or illness, wounds received or KIA, warrant the Gold Star for the family. Don't let anyone tell you different.

I offer you my services, such as they are. If you want to talk, feel free to get in touch with me thru the PGR messaging. I WILL return your call/message. ANYTIME!

In the meantime know that my wife's and my prayers are with you.

As I prepare to stand and honor another of America's finest, I find myself looking back and searching for the correct words. Michael, you went forth of your own accord and looked to our country and service in it's military as a means of " doing something with my life" as you told your friends. Your country sent you in harms way and now your country is preparing to send you on your final journey. Fear not Michael, your life meant something to more people than you could ever imagine. All of those who have freedom and liberty, whether they knew of you or your service, will forever be in your debt. I will be in your debt as I stand in silence and honor you and your service. I will tell all those that will listen, and those that will not, that Michael Dinterman was a hero, a patriot, and a believer in what this country stands for. That Michael Dinterman went voluntarily into harms way to help defend and preserve this country and the way of life it affords all of us. I will forever remember the sacrifces made by those in the military and I will always remember the ultimate sacrifice made by Michael Dinterman, Private First Class, United States Army!

Michael was promoted to Private First Class just this past week as he was on his final journey home. Another honor for someone who gave their all while doing the right thing for their country.

GOD BLESS the family and friends of a true American hero.

It is with deep regret and great sorrow to have not known one who gave his life, the ULTIMATE" sacrifice, for our country and what it stands for. There are no greater men than those who serve and protect without cause for themselves, and give for so many they may never know. Ride free my brothers, hold your head high in the wind and smell the sweet scent of freedom as you travel this great land, for another hero has laid down his life so that you may enjoy those rights they will no longer know.
