Rest Safely and Securely in God's Loving Arms, Greg.
Going home, going home,
I'm just going home.
Quiet-like, slip away-
I'll be going home.
It's not far, just close by;
Jesus is the Door;
Work all done, laid aside,
Fear and grief no more.
Friends are there, waiting now.
He is waiting, too.
See His smile! See His hand!
He will lead me through.
Morning
Star lights the way;
Restless dream all done;
Shadows gone, break of day,
Life has just begun.
Every tear wiped away,
Pain and sickness gone;
Wide awake there with Him!
Peace goes on and on!
Going home, going home,
I'll be going home.
See the Light! See the Sun!
I'm just going home.

Our sincere condolences to the family and friends of SSgt.Greg Gorter,Thanks for being one of our greatest heroes. God Bless. And God Bless, The fellow soldiers that stands for us everyday.Thank you for your dedicated service and sacrifice to defend this great nation of ours.

Final Inspection
The soldier stood and faced God, Which must always come to pass. He hoped his shoes were shining. Just as brightly as his brass. "Step forward now,soldier. How shall I deal with you? Have you always turned the other cheek? To My Church have you been true?" The soldier squared his shoulders and said, "No, Lord, I guess I ain't. Because those of us who carry guns, Can't always be a saint. I've had to work most Sundays, And at times my talk was tough. And sometimes I've been violent, Because the world is awfully rough. But, I never took a penny, That wasn't mine to keep.... Though I worked a lot of overtime. When the bills just got too steep. And I never passed a cry for help, Though at times I shook with fear. And sometimes, God, forgive me, I've wept unmanly tears. I know I don't deserve a place, Among the people here. They never wanted me around, Except to calm their fears. If you've a place for me here, Lord. It needn't be so grand. I never expected or had too much, But if you don’t, I’ll understand. There was a silence all around the throne, Where the saints had often trod. As the soldier waited quietly, For the judgment of his God. "Step forward now,soldier you’ve borne your burdens well. Walk peacefully on Heaven’s streets; you’ve done your time in Hell."

Thank you to all who posted comments here. Greg recently talked me into joining the guard with him after being out of the Air Force for 16 years.
MY SALUTE
The life of the party, a spirit so free Wherever you were people wanted to be With a backyard gathering and you as the chef You could make anyone laugh including the deaf With your actions or faces and sometimes a pose Whether on the inside or outside our laughter still grows With a laugh so grand and a face with a smile Not one can fill your shoes, walk in them not a mile You loved to sing and loved to dance Would we have changed you? Not a chance All friends always welcome at your home With so many people your friendships had grown In size and in character you where so large A leader of soldiers, you did take charge You stood so tall, a mountain of a man Volunteer for war, you said ‘yes I can’ You fought for our freedoms, you wanted to go The sacrifices you made, some will never know You were always there for family and friends For fallen soldiers you were there in the end You fired the guns and our flag you flew We buried you proud beneath the Red, White, and Blue With service to our country and the community Thank you isn’t enough, you’ll go down in history You have made us laugh and now we cry God took you away and we’re not sure why He may need a soldier to guard Heaven’s gate The saints may need a chuckle which I’m sure you’ll make The love of your life and a daughter left behind The strength of your love them we will always remind Five brothers once stood and now only four Three sisters and Mother, you’ll be waiting at Heaven’s door Now you are with Grandparents and Dad And relatives and friends with which time we had We will all go through bad times once in a while But we will get past them when we picture your smile We love you so much, you’ll always be so dear Forever in our hearts we will keep you near Thank you for being my brother and friend I look forward to seeing you when we meet again Now after we’ve laid you down to rest I salute you my brother, you were the best

MISSION REPORT – SSG GREG GORTER; PIPESTONE, MN 03,04 SEPT 08
In spite of very short notice for this mission, we had a total of 49 Patriot Guard Riders attend the visitation on Sept 3 and the funeral on Sept 4. Although this mission was not confirmed until the day prior to the visitation, 15 members were able to form a silent flag line the next evening to stand with Honor, Dignity and Respect for SSG Greg Gorter. Approximately 700 people came to pay their respects to SSG Gorter and support his family during the visitation.
On Thurs, Sept 4, 34 PGR members from as far away as Detroit Lakes, Alexandria, Willmar, Fairmont and South Dakota arrived at the staging area on a calm, clear day to Honor our PGR Brother and True American Hero. After staging, we were escorted by Pipestone County Sheriff Dan Delaney as we rode with our flags flying proudly until we parked across the street from the church. We then established the flag line as an estimated 750 people arrived for the funeral service.
Following the service, the Patriot Guard led the escort and was joined by 10 more motorcycles representing friends and family of SSG Gorter. Following the PGR escort was a Hummer driven by some of the many military personnel who had come to honor SSG Gorter, another friend on Greg’s Harley, the hearse, the family and more than 200 vehicles. The escort took us 17 miles to the small town of Edgerton, MN where we formed our final flag line during the graveside service. The sun continued to shine and the skies were fair as many tears were shed. SSG Gorter was a Hero and a friend to many in this small rural area of SW MN and he will be greatly missed.
My thanks to all who were able to support this mission, either with your physical presence or by being with SSG Gorter and his family with your thoughts and prayers.
