MSG Simmons, you are so truly appreciated. I know you have been welcomed as a hero at heaven's gates by all our fallen warriors who have gone before you. Rest easy now, Shawn, and know that you will be forever remembered here.

Thank you for your service and sacrifice in defending and protecting our freedoms. As a nation we mourn your loss, and we will remember you always as a true American hero. To the family, I offer my prayers and support. I understand a little of what you are going through-my son, a Marine LCpl, was killed in Iraq. I pray wonderful memories of your dear warrior help eventually to ease the pain you endure today. Your hero will never be forgotten-he leaves a legacy of honor and courage that few will ever achieve. God bless you. Julie Francis, Matt's Mom

Our sincere condolences to the family and friends of MSgt.Shawn E.Simmons,Thanks for being one of our greatest heroes. God Bless. And God Bless, The fellow soldiers that stands for us everyday.Thank you for your dedicated service and sacrifice to defend this great nation of ours.

We salute you , My Friend

Final Inspection

The soldier stood and faced God,
Which must always come to pass.
He hoped his shoes were shining.
Just as brightly as his brass.
"Step forward now,soldier.
How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To My Church have you been true?"
The soldier squared his shoulders and said,
"No, Lord, I guess I ain't.
Because those of us who carry guns,
Can't always be a saint.
I've had to work most Sundays,
And at times my talk was tough.
And sometimes I've been violent,
Because the world is awfully rough.
But, I never took a penny,
That wasn't mine to keep....
Though I worked a lot of overtime.
When the bills just got too steep.
And I never passed a cry for help,
Though at times I shook with fear.
And sometimes, God, forgive me,
I've wept unmanly tears.
I know I don't deserve a place,
Among the people here.
They never wanted me around,
Except to calm their fears.
If you've a place for me here, Lord.
It needn't be so grand.
I never expected or had too much,
But if you don’t, I’ll understand.
There was a silence all around the throne,
Where the saints had often trod.
As the soldier waited quietly,
For the judgment of his God.
"Step forward now,soldier
you’ve borne your burdens well.
Walk peacefully on Heaven’s streets;
you’ve done your time in Hell."

The Three Servicemen Statue Dedication was in Apalachicola on Saturday, July, 12th and was committed to with PGR support by the local Ride Captains. We then received notice of an Honor mission in Tallahassee on this same date.
Jim and Pat decided to split up and handle both missions.
My Dad (79 years young) who started riding again after a 62 year hiatus was scheduled to ride his 1st PGR mission with me to Apalachicola. After the Honor mission was announced I called my Dad and although he is a 2 tour Vietnam Veteran we collectively made the decision to support the Honor mission.
We had a typical summertime forecast with high temperatures, high humidity and a 60% chance of thunderstorms. Although we started out before 7:00 am the humidity was terrible and you broke out in a sweat just standing still. The air moving across your body made the ride comfortable. We arrived at staging and my parents were already there eagerly anticipating their 1st mission. After introductions and a ride briefing we were underway to join with others at the Tallahassee staging area. Another member joined us in Youngstown as we rode through and Randall did the same as we passed though Blountstown.
Just before we arrived in Tallahassee we were delayed due to some mechanical problems with one member’s bike. We left this member with the support vehicle and with a Leon County Sheriffs Deputy who stopped to offer assistance.
Upon our arrival at staging we were met by, Ride Captains Greek and Bill Boy from Central Florida. There were also members from Valdosta, Ga. led by Poppa Joe, Crestview, Fl., Fort Walton Beach, Fl., and Tallahassee led by Senior Ride Captain Mike Donohoe and his spouse Connie. Mike gave a mission briefing and we were soon ready to depart. Mike and a few others would escort the family to the church from their home and the rest of us would proceed to the church and establish the flag line. A local member left staging to escort our member with mechanical problems and the support vehicle from the Harley shop to the Church.
The support vehicle arrived within minutes of our arrival and we immediately formed a flag line.
The Commanding General of Army Special Forces walked both flag lines (2 entrances) and personally shook the hand and offered his thanks to each member. The General even saluted a few of the Veterans as he thanked them. I presented the General (I’m sorry I don’t remember his name) with a PGR challenge coin. To my surprise he had never seen one and was genuinely impressed with it.
The family arrived approximately 5 minutes prior to the service beginning and was ushered down our flag line. We took a much needed break from the heat and humidity. We reformed a flag line just prior to the service ending and remained until our Hero was loaded into the hearse and the family had exited the Church.
The escort to the cemetery was nerve racking as neither the City of Tallahassee nor Leon County provide LEO escort for funerals. We all arrived safely and formed another flag line as numerous awards were presented posthumously including the Bronze Star followed by the folding of the Flag, the three volleys, and the playing of Taps.
I would like to thank the following:
The family for asking us to stand in Honor of our Hero.
Mike Donohoe for a well planned mission.
Fat Pat for leading the Panama City group.
RC and his group for a superb job of traffic control.
Neil and Cindy for filling in with the support vehicle.
The member who escorted our support vehicle from the Harley Dealer to the Church..
All the members who took the time to participate.
Mike and Connie's daughter, Renee who also provided a support vehicle with ice cold water.
My Dad, Mom, and my everlasting support, my spouse.
The weatherman above for keeping us dry all day.
MISSION ACCOMPLISHED
