Thank you for your service and sacrifice in defending and protecting our freedoms. As a nation we mourn your loss, and we will remember you always as a true American hero. To the family, I offer my prayers and support. I understand a little of what you are going through-my son, a Marine LCpl, was killed in Iraq. I pray wonderful memories of your dear warrior help eventually to ease the pain you endure today. Your hero will never be forgotten-he leaves a legacy of honor and courage that few will ever achieve. Another of Pennsylvania's finest young sons, taken by the cowardly act of an enemy without honor. All of the Keystone State, feels your loss, today. "Thank you," PFC Yohn, for putting yourself in harm's way, so my family and I can be safe and free. Your courage and commitment is astounding. It will be my honor to stand for you. Rest easy now, Soldier, your mission is complete. Now it's time for US to do ours.
To the Yohn Family: “I feel how weak and fruitless must be any words of mine which should attempt to beguile you from the grief of a loss so overwhelming. But I cannot refrain from tendering to you the consolation that may be found in the thanks of the Republic he died to save. I pray that our Heavenly Father may assuage the anguish of your bereavement, and leave you only the cherished memory of the loved and lost, and the solemn pride that must be yours, to have laid so costly a sacrifice upon the altar of Freedom.”

Thank you, PFC James M. Yohn, for your service to this Nation. It is because of patriots such as you that I, my family, and the rest of this great Nation are able to lead the lives we do. It is the soldier that gives us freedom, not the politicians. Only two people ever died for our freedoms. One was Jesus Christ and the other was the American Soldier. The least I can do is pay homage and respect to this Hero and his family. To the family of this American Hero: We as a nation grieve with you in your loss. His adherence to “Duty to God and Country” will not be forgotten. Death is a time to rejoice in the life someone had and the lives they touched on this earth. Life is but a blink of an eye. May the Great Architect take this Hero and his family into his council, protect and heal them.

As I get ready to write to you, the words fall away as almost meaningless because of the pain I know you feel. I know, because I have felt that pain.
Know that you are NOT alone on this difficult path. Others are there to help you: reach out and embrace them, for they are offering not only themselves, but sharing with you that little bit of the Almighty that resides in all of us. This offering/sharing is what WILL give you the strength you will need to get thru. Trust me.
Any service related death, on or off duty, whether accident or illness, wounds received or KIA, warrant the Gold Star for the family. Don't let anyone tell you different.
I offer you my services, such as they are. If you want to talk, feel free to get in touch with me thru the PGR messaging. I WILL return your call/message. ANYTIME!
In the meantime know that my wife's and my prayers are with you.

| I sttod the flag line to honor Jimmy's service. There's a point or two at every service that I'm glad I wear sunglasses to hide my tears.
With Jimmy, I choked up when I saw the incredible impact on other people's lives he had. That so many people came to honor his passing was incredible. His service to our country and to his community is something we should all strive oward as a goal in life.
To his family, my deepest condolences. To his soon-to-be-born son: "Be always proud that your father's life centered around service to others."
