I was deeply saddened to learn of Tom's passing. May God give His peace and strength to Tom's family in these difficult times. In our grief, however, let us remember that we are all better off because he lived. Goodbye shipmate, as you go to your final duty station to dwell in the House of the Lord forever.

"It's the Soldier, not the reporter,
Who has given us freedom of the press.

It's the Soldier, not the poet,
Who has given us freedom of speech.

It's the Soldier, not the campus organizer,
Who has given us freedom to demonstrate.

It's the Soldier, not the lawyer,
Who has given us the right to a fair trial.

And it's the Soldier who salutes the flag,
Who serves the flag,
Whose coffin is draped in the flag,
That allows the protester to burn the flag"

I have known Tom for close to twenty years,I didn't work directly with Tom but in the building right next to him. From day one his honesty and pride impressed me.We both being Navy vets would start conversations of gitmo and working in the holes. We had a few chances to ride together and he introduced me to the guard. I remember talking with him monday before he passed and joking about our wives and air conditioning.HE willl be missed,my heart goes out to his family. It was a HONOR to know him and an HONOR to be a member of a group who pays so much sympathy to a fallen brother.I relieve you of your watch brother we will take it from here.
