A Soldier's Prayer
(author unknown)

Do not stand at my grave and weep
I am not there; I do not sleep.

I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond glints on snow,
I am the sun on ripened grain,
I am the gentle autumn rain.

When you awaken in the morning's hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.

Do not stand at my grave and cry,
I am not there; I did not die.

Pfc Martin, you are very truly appreciated for your willingness to stand for our nation. Rest easy now with our Lord, Derek, and know that you will never be forgotten here.

Thank you for your service and sacrifice in defending and protecting our freedoms. As a nation we mourn your loss, and we will remember you always as a true American hero. To the family, I offer my prayers and support. I understand a little of what you are going through-my son, a Marine LCpl, was killed in Iraq. I pray wonderful memories of your dear warrior help eventually to ease the pain you endure today. Your hero will never be forgotten-he leaves a legacy of honor and courage that few will ever achieve. God bless you. Julie Francis, Matt's Mom

As I get ready to write to you, the words fall away as almost meaningless because of the pain I know you feel. I know, because I have felt that pain.

Know that you are NOT alone on this difficult path. Others are there to help you: reach out and embrace them, for they are offering not only themselves, but sharing with you that little bit of the Almighty that resides in all of us. This offering/sharing is what WILL give you the strength you will need to get thru. Trust me.

I offer you my services, such as they are. If you want to talk, feel free to get in touch with me thru the PGR messaging. I WILL return your call/message. ANYTIME!

In the meantime know that my wife's and my prayers are with you.

Final Mission Report

Thursday at the funeral home, the family and friends were met by a flag line of 27 PGR members who stood to show their respect and to honor Derek for his service.

Friday dawned bright and early for the 17 PGR bikes and 1 cage at the staging area. By the time we arrived at the funeral home 2 more members had joined us. Once again, the family and friends were greeted by a flag line of dedicated PGR members. After a short service, Derek was transported to Fort Indiantown Gap National Cemetery where he was laid to rest with full military honors.

I wish to say thank you to ALL the PANG members who supported the family of their service brother in this time of sorrow. To all the PGR members who came out, thank you so much. I know the family did not get to speak with each of you, but please know that your efforts were deeply felt by each and every family member. A final thank you must go to the Lancaster-Lebanon IU 13 staff who upon learning of this mission offered the PGR use of their entire back parking lot for staging on both days.

Lastly, I want to personally thank Jim, Betsy, Ray, and grandfather ( whose name I forgot ) for allowing us to honor Derek. It was my honor to stand for him as he was so willing to stand for our country. If not for patriots like him, we would not have the freedoms we have.

MAY GOD BLESS ALL OF YOU.

Tim Young
