Marine Deployment, Greenville, SC, 15Jun08
The Patriot Guard has been invited to attend the send off of Greenville's own Teufelhunden (Devil Dogs) who are deploying to go into Battle. These Leathernecks are shipping out on Father's day, a day that should be spent with their Families, but these Marines are prepping to go into Harm's Way-for us.
The Marines from the Greenville, S.C. Reserve Center will be departing on 15 Jun 08 around 1000 hrs to deploy in the GWOT, and should return home next March.
Staging Time and Area TBA

Yeah, Ricky, that's 1/2 mile from the Reserve Center. I agree on the no flags, it'll be more fun for those deploying to be able to mingle with the group and shake hands.
From what I understand, this is an activation and preliminary departure. They're going from here to Camp Lejeune, NC for further training and will likely get leave before deploying to the middle east and elsewhere. We'll likely have another chance to see them off, at the end of their leave, which I think is in early August.
4th Ammo Company, 4th Supply Battalion is made up mostly of Ammo Technicians. When they deploy, they scatter all over, not as a unit. Most Marine units have only one or two Ammo Techs, so some will be assigned duty stateside, replacing Ammo Techs that deploy with their units and others will deploy to Iraq or Afghanistan.

Address for the Reserve Center is 669 Perimeter Rd. From I-85, take exit 44 and go south on White Horse Rd to Augusta St. Turn right on Augusta to the next stop light. Turn left on Asbury, which will become Exchange St, after the first stop sign. Go the end of Exchange St to the staging area.

Thank you again Wayne for giving us a heads up on this. Yesterday we meet some outstanding, motivated Marines. It was an honor to shake everyones hands. I was speaking to the Guny and he told me that he worked hard to keep these guys well motivated, positive and ready for action. Well, I do believe that he has done an amazing job. Never had I ever seen a group of men so optimistic and eager to go on deployment. God bless everyone of you and I wish you all good luck and fortune.
When I got home I found out that one of these Marines is a friend of my daughter. They went to high school together. Stony I think is his nick name. Its hard for me to even imagine that a kid my daughter's age is going off to war and defending us all. But this is the same story from eons back. Stay safe guys. Come back home safe and sound. We will be waiting. We had 9 bikes and 1 cage. Including my brother-in-law Joe on his first ride with the PGR. He had a great time.
Thank You All For Coming Out. God Bless you and Ride Safe. |
