Flag Day Ceremony

The Veterans Memorial Park is about to undergo a historical change with construction for the Madison County Veterans Memorial. Part of scenes which will accompany the Memorial as it is built and becomes a historical monument is the park before the construction begins. We plan to create that scene on Flag Day of 2008 as we invite all Active Military, Veterans, and Patriotic Citizens to participate in a community wide Flag Day event.  We invite all Veterans and actively serving to wear their uniform. Medals on civilian clothes are encouraged.  As part of that program, we will do a Veterans Memorial fund raising event open to the entire community. We plan to have re-enactors representing various wars, cannons, static displays, flag presentations, and music.

Forwarded from the Organizers:

The Flag Day event is a go!
Rain or shine!

Veterans Memorial Park.
9am to 11:30 - Saturday June 14.

I've been talking with the weathermen. They tell me that at worst we may have a pop up shower.
Very minimal chance of lightning - because event will be in the morning before the atmosphere heats up.

Around 1 or 2 pm - after atmosphere heats up we'll probably have rain - just like we've had last few days.
Don't pay attention to the weather channels, he says. Their computers still don't have the ability to linearly interpolate.
Tomorrow morning will be too late to get the word out to many people. That's why the decision and the email this afternoon.

So come with umbrella - just in case.

BTW, I met with the Army band today. Their jazz band will start off things followed by the entire 35 piece band with some very lively current music, including one of their people singing "American Soldier" with the band as a backup.

This will be a GREAT event!!

Very Respectfully,
David R. Carney

Strength and Honor
