Thank you for your desire to follow in a long line of men and women who realize freedom is not free and are willing to give some of their time in the defense of the greatest country ever to exist. You will probably take a pic like the one that you see to the left of this posting when my now almost 23 year old son enlisted in the Army and I attended his boot camp graduation in 2005. He left last Monday for his second tour of duty in Iraq and I will tell you as I told him that some in his family served in the defense of our way of life, saw battle, survived and went on to live long and productive lives. I wish the same for you! Honor your family, defend this great country, stay safe and don't forget the PGR when you return as we need fine men and women lilke yourself to stand flag lines for those who have fought the same battles . . . Thanks again! Buz

I LOVED Basic Training !
I did my 3 months at Fort Ord in the summertime.
Sure, there were tough times carring my Garand M1,
(damn it was heavy), on long marches along the beach
but the chow was good, mmmm the S. on a shingle was
yummy and I was in a great company of guys. We remember
the good times (that was almost 50 years ago) and forget the
bad times but I learned skills that i didn't have. I wish now I could do
as many chin ups as I could do then. LOL ! It did help that I was a
squad leader and didn't do KP. Wow, the memories come flooding back.
Yepp, damn that was fun !

To our hero Garrett, his parents and grandparents and other family members and friends...........
It was our honor to join you in the celebration of Garretts graduation from high school,
his birthday and enlistment into the Army. The challenges ahead during basic training in Georgia,
medic school and deployment are awesome. We, along with all of you, wish Garrett the
most success. When Garrett graduates from basic training we know you will be there for him.
Garrett my man, what an adventure lies ahead of you. Enjoy every minute of it. One day in
the distant future, you will tell your grandchildren, as I have told mine....Damn that was fun!

It was a true honor to be invited and to participate in this mission. It takes special people to be willing to share such an occasion with perfect strangers with such welcoming warm, and the people I had the pleasure to meet yesterday are truly special and a testimony to the greatness of our country.

To the Davenport Family, I wish to espress my gratitude for inviting us and giving us the opportunity to honor you and Garrett. But most of all, thank you for a long tradition of Military service that has kept our great nation free. It is my sincere hope that you will allow us to follow Garrett's path with you by giving us updates.

To Garrett, it was a honor to be there with you to celebrate your past accomplishments and to wish you the best at everything you are embarking to do. My gratitude for your decision to serve and sacrifice for our Nation is difficult to describe. There was but a few of us there, but remember that we represented more than 144,000 PGR members and millions more who silently are in awe of young men and women like yourself. You are the best our country has and the best hope for America and we are totally behind you.
May God follow your every step, may He assist your family and friends and may He bless our Military and our Nation.

I too had the privilage of going through basic at Fort Ord. Many wonderful days at the beach! We trained with M-14's. What I didn't have the privilage of, however, was sending off this fine young man! Got to Starbucks at 11:10 and no one was there! Anyone know what happened?

Premature departure Billy.  The message has been passed on, so it's unlikely to happen again.  Perhaps we'll have another opportunity to honor Garrett when he's on leave.
