CWO Carter, you are so truly appreciated. You stand now a hero at heaven's gates, along with all our fallen warriors who have gone before you. Rest easy now, James, and know that you will never be forgotten here.

Thank you for your service and sacrifice in defending and protecting our freedoms. As a nation we mourn your loss, and we will remember you always as a true American hero. To the family, I offer my prayers and support. I understand a little of what you are going through-my son, a Marine LCpl, was killed in Iraq. I pray wonderful memories of your dear warrior help eventually to ease the pain you endure today. Your hero will never be forgotten-he leaves a legacy of honor and courage that few will ever achieve. God bless you. Julie Francis, Matt's Mom

Our sincere condolences to the family and friends of CWO.James Carter,Thanks for being one of our heroes. God Bless. And God Bless, The fellow soldiers that stands for us everyday.Thank you for your dedicated service and sacrifice to defend this great nation of ours.

We salute you , My Friend

Final Inspection

The soldier stood and faced God,
Which must always come to pass.
He hoped his shoes were shining.
Just as brightly as his brass.
"Step forward now,soldier.
How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To My Church have you been true?"
The soldier squared his shoulders and said,
"No, Lord, I guess I ain't.
Because those of us who carry guns,
Can't always be a saint.
I've had to work most Sundays,
And at times my talk was tough.
And sometimes I've been violent,
Because the world is awfully rough.
But, I never took a penny,
That wasn't mine to keep....
Though I worked a lot of overtime.
When the bills just got too steep.
And I never passed a cry for help,
Though at times I shook with fear.
And sometimes, God, forgive me,
I've wept unmanly tears.
I know I don't deserve a place,
Among the people here.
They never wanted me around,
Except to calm their fears.
If you've a place for me here, Lord.
It needn't be so grand.
I never expected or had too much,
But if you don’t, I’ll understand.
There was a silence all around the throne,
Where the saints had often trod.
As the soldier waited quietly,
For the judgment of his God.
"Step forward now,soldier
you’ve borne your burdens well.
Walk peacefully on Heaven’s streets;
you’ve done your time in Hell."

The Fallen...
Through Their Memory
They Still Give...

We thought of you with love today
But that is nothing new.
We thought about you yesterday
And days before that too.

We think of you in silence
We often speak your name.

Now all we have are memories
And your picture in a frame.

Your memory is our keepsake
With which we'll never part

God has you in His keeping
We have you in our Heart.

Life is unpredictable, so to try and predict what is ahead is only asking for disappointment. Just live it as we can. Love and love of life will help us be guided in our decisions as we go forward.

I had the honor of serving with Mr. Carter (who we affectionately knew as J.C.) for 6 years.  When I was an FNG PFC in the 2-17th Cav in 2002, he was one of many who took me under his wing to show me the ropes and teach me everything I needed to know about maintaining the OH-58D Kiowa Warrior.  Mr. Carter served his country for 25 years, as an Enlisted man, a Drill SGT, a Kiowa Pilot, and a maintenance test pilot.  He was never shy about talking to us enlisted guys, whether about official Army stuff, troubleshooting a broken aircraft, or just the day to day stuff.  He was also good about taking us little guys out for a flight now and then as a reward for our hard work.  I remember the last time I saw JC was in January, at the Ft. Campbell PX, and I stopped to talked to him for a few minutes, not knowing that I would never see him again.  JC was a dedicated Cav Trooper.  Even after he was assigned to our support unit, he still continued to fly with us, and we were glad to have his knowledge, experience, and candor.  JC was a friend to all, and I wish I was able to join you proud riders down to Montgomery for the service.  Watch over him well for me.  JC, we'll see you on Fiddler's Green.

CWO Carter, you have stood in service for your Country and have sacrificed your life for the noble cause of bringing liberty and justice to oppressed people who were not fortunate enough to be born with it.  You stand tall and immortal for your service, and will never be forgotten.   May you rest in peace, and your family be comforted knowing that you devoted your life to the highest cause...that of your fellow man.

I Remember You

When I walk into my church,
free and without fear,
I remember you.

When I see children playing in the school yard,
girls and boys of all kinds,
I remember you.

When I see families working together,
regardless of religion or nationality,
I remember you.

When I go to sleep
without worry for my family's safety,
I remember you.

When I see our flag waving in front of my home,
and when I can salute that flag without fear of reprisal,
I remember you.

When I remember you,
I think of the sacrifices you made so I could have these things.
I think of your commitment and your service
beyond mere duty.
I think of all that you have given
so that I and those whom I love can be free.

When I pray at night and give thanks
for the blessings God has given,
I remember you.
