We offer our Sincere Condolences to the Family of Randy Mecham when his country called he came forth to serve his Flag, his Country and the United States Navy. Now his mission is complete. No longer will he hear the sound of the waves against the hull or ravages of the storm. May he find Blue Skys, Smooth Seas and Fair Winds on his new journey. Welcome home brother.

We salute you , My Friend
Final Inspection
The soldier stood and faced God, Which must always come to pass. He hoped his shoes were shining. Just as brightly as his brass. "Step forward now, soldier. How shall I deal with you? Have you always turned the other cheek? To My Church have you been true?" The soldier squared his shoulders and said, "No, Lord, I guess I ain't. Because those of us who carry guns, Can't always be a saint. I've had to work most Sundays, And at times my talk was tough. And sometimes I've been violent, Because the world is awfully rough. But, I never took a penny, That wasn't mine to keep.... Though I worked a lot of overtime. When the bills just got too steep. And I never passed a cry for help, Though at times I shook with fear. And sometimes, God, forgive me, I've wept unmanly tears. I know I don't deserve a place, Among the people here. They never wanted me around, Except to calm their fears. If you've a place for me here, Lord. It needn't be so grand. I never expected or had too much, But if you don’t, I’ll understand. There was a silence all around the throne, Where the saints had often trod. As the soldier waited quietly, For the judgment of his God. "Step forward now, soldier you’ve borne your burdens well. Walk peacefully on Heaven’s streets; you’ve done your time in Hell."

My wife I whish to sincere condolences to the family and friends of Randy Mecham. I was at the restaurant in Roosevelt when we learned of his loss, which saddens me further to know that I will not be able to attend the mission in his honor. I will, however, fly my flags for him, and honor him in spirit and meditation at the appointed time. I hope you wil find comfort in knowing that he is in the presence of God, and watches over you.

The mission has been successfully completed. Due to the remoteness of the location, and the many mission requests that the Utah PGR has had in recent time, the number of participants from the PGR was limited to myself as Ride Captain, and 4 others.
A Flag Line was set up at the church. Randy was also a Deputy Sheriff. His casket was personalized with the name of "Lone Wolf". He was dressed in his leathers, and two hats were in the casket with him. His Mother was presented with a small Mission Accomplished pin, and a second one was placed on one of his hats to accompany him. This seemed to bring a measure of comfort to his family.
The Flag cage then went to the cemetary to await the procession. Two motorcycles were there to represent the PGR in the procession. Randy's motorcycle was ridden by a family member. Approximately 15 of Randy's friends also followed the hearse.
Upon the procession's arrival at the cemetary, his friends were invited to join the Flag Line. All accepted. The American Legion conducted the military honors.
I believe that there will be several new members in the PGR in the Uninta Basin area as a result of this mission. I am also going to present the State Captain with two nominations for Ride Captain and Associate Ride Captain for this region of the state for consideration. The distance covered for this mission was approximately 350 miles.
I was honored to be the Ride Captain for this mission. Randy was a Vietnam Veteran who was taken from us prematurely. The Vietnam Veterans of America flag was present and flown with pride.
An Indian friend of Randy's conducted a ritual at the church with the Flag Line participants.
Randy, I wish that I had known you during your lifetime. Your friend, Gary Phelps found us in the Frontier Resturant in Rooesevelt Utah while we were on our way on our Cookie Run. He had seen us in action on the Whitehead Altamont mission last year, and knew deep in his heart that the PGR should honor Randy. I am glad that this short notice mission was able to be accomplished with the Honor and Respect that the Utah PGR is becoming widely known for doing.
Rest Randy, your job on earth is done. Your memory will be forever enshrined upon the Wall Within in those hearts that you touched in your lifetime's achievements, and will be remembered with tenderness by those who love you.
Welcome Home....
