| The Welcome Home for the 153rd MP Unit was a very good Mission. Nine of us saw them off last year, and 22 Welcomed them home. We met at Mikes and had 4cages and 12 bikes. The 133 men and 15 women where happy and glad to see the People from Mikes and the PGR out front waiting for them. They exited the buses to clapping and hand shakes and hearty welcome homes. They were treated to a Nice cheese Burger and Fries Lunch, and got to kick a few tires and sit on bikes. The escort over to the Air Guards base was wonderful, The LEOs did a fantastic job and the line up was over a half mile long. Every one of us enjoyed riding on the air strip and listening to the Fire engines Blowing the Horns and sounding off with the Sirens. The troops marched in with the Police Motors in front and 4 Mounted Police on what looked to be Clydsdales, with a Bag pipe and drum corp playing as they marched in front of the troops. Just a fantastic sight to see. The troops passed under a large Flag hung between two ladder trucks and then stood as the Govenor and other State Officals welcomed them home. 4 Of use left this misson and proceeded south to Escort PO3 Brandon Shockley home to Milford from his deployment with the Navy. |
