30 May 2008 9:51 PM Alert

The Patriot Guard Riders have been invited to join the families of Willow Lake, SD, in dedication ceremonies to be held on Saturday, June 7 in Willow Lake.

A memorial to all soldiers lost in all wars since WWI will be dedicated. The memorial is an A-shaped monument and contains the names of all soldiers of Clark County lost, and will also fly a US and POW/MIA flag. An avenue of flags will be completed for display at the same time.

In addition, a sculpture of CWO Scott Saboe will be dedicated. Scott was KIA when a pair of Black Hawk helicopters collided in mid-air over a residential suburb in Mosul, when one of the aircraft was hit on the tail wing by a rocket-propelled grenade. Scott gave his all to our country on November 15, 2003.

Willow Lake is located roughly in the middle between Watertown, Huron and Brookings, located on Hwy 28, three miles west of SD 25.  This event will be on a Saturday which should give our members a good opportunity to attend a mission after a long period of cold and wet weather. This dedication is very meaningful to the residents of Clark County, and especially to the family of Scott Saboe. It would mean a lot to them for us to have a large turnout for this event.

The dedication ceremony will begin at 2 pm in the town park in Willow Lake.

The Ride Captain for this event will be Asst State Captain Jim Lentsch who can be reached via email at chiefie@triotel.net .  Please contact Jim if you know you will be able to attend.  If you do not RSVP, but find you can still attend, please do so.

Staging for members will be at the northern intersection of SD Hwy 25 and SD Hwy 28 where Hwy 25 continues north and Hwy 28 turns west to Willow Lake.  This location is four miles east of Willow Lake.

Staging time at that intersection is planned for 1:00 pm, with mission briefing at 1:15pm and 'kickstands up' at 1:30 for the ride to Willow Lake.  Our ride will enter Willow Lake and include a ride past CWO Scott Saboe's parents home where a sign in the front yard reads "Honk in Honor of Scott Saboe, Our Fallen Hero".   The procession will then travel through Willow Lake and over to the park to stand a flag line for the dediation.

The residents of Willow Lake have taken up personal collections to make this Monument to the Fallen Soldier happen, and have done many hours of volunteer work.  They are very excited about the Patriot Guard Riders attending and about this entire project.  Our members are encouraged to attend this mission on behalf of our fallen hero Scott Saboe.   Please consider this a very special event and do your absolute best to attend.
