Sorry it took so long to get the recon done.

There is a shopping center on the Northwest corner of Sheridan and Alameda. We will stage in front of the Walgreens there at 9:15AM. Mission brief at 9:30, KSU at 9:40. The funeral home is about 6 blocks south of Alameda on the west side. It is my understanding that there will be a procession from the funeral home to Ft. Logan. If you can only make the Ft. Logan portion of this mission, Stage at the Visitors Center at 11:15

I will bring the flags, water, and other stuff

Staging - 9:15AM NW corner of Alameda & Sheridan - Walgreens
Brief - 9:30
KSU - 9:40

Thanks to all that came out today. I know it was a bit trying as we had two missions go off at about the same time. In the end we had 5 bikes and 2 cages at the funeral home and 13 bikes and 3 cages at Ft. Logan. Well Done!

Here's a thank you from the family I received at the service;

Dear Patriot Guard Riders,

We want to take a moment to thank you for accompanying and honoring out brother, Neal A. Davis, at his services. It is very comforting and reassuring to have your presence at such a stressful time.

We know your schedule is very busy and our family appreciates the time and efforts offered by your group today. Neal will be missed by many loving freinds, but leaves a legacy of kindness and generosity.

Again, the family thanks you very much for the comfort and strength you gave to everyone in attendance by your presence.

With our deepest love and gratitude,

The Davis Family

Our sincere condolences to the family and friends of Neal Davis,Thanks for being one of our greatest heroes. God Bless. And God Bless, The fellow soldiers that stands for us everyday.Thank you for your dedicated service and sacrifice to defend this great nation of ours.

We salute you , My Friend

Final Inspection

The soldier stood and faced God,
Which must always come to pass.
He hoped his shoes were shining.
Just as brightly as his brass.
"Step forward now,soldier.
How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To My Church have you been true?"
The soldier squared his shoulders and said,
"No, Lord, I guess I ain't.
Because those of us who carry guns,
Can't always be a saint.
I've had to work most Sundays,
And at times my talk was tough.
And sometimes I've been violent,
Because the world is awfully rough.
But, I never took a penny,
That wasn't mine to keep....
Though I worked a lot of overtime.
When the bills just got too steep.
And I never passed a cry for help,
Though at times I shook with fear.
And sometimes, God, forgive me,
I've wept unmanly tears.
I know I don't deserve a place,
Among the people here.
They never wanted me around,
Except to calm their fears.
If you've a place for me here, Lord.
It needn't be so grand.
I never expected or had too much,
But if you don’t, I’ll understand.
There was a silence all around the throne,
Where the saints had often trod.
As the soldier waited quietly,
For the judgment of his God.
"Step forward now,soldier
you’ve borne your burdens well.
Walk peacefully on Heaven’s streets;
you’ve done your time in Hell."

Many thanks to the PGR who stood for our Wind & Fire MC firefighter club president, Neal Davis.

Neal lived a life of service and subscribed to values much bigger than his simple, short life. In the 27 years I knew this Castlewood Firefighter (now S. Metro) he never sought fame or recognition, he only sought out opportunities to make a difference. He truly lived out Jack London's quote regarding "a man who serves others best serves himself". As he placed his life on the line both in military service and the fire service Neal certainly followed the "No greater love..." teaching of one of the world's Greatest Teachers.

Neal had a childhood rift with members of his family that continued on through his adult life. Those of us with military, police, fire, hospital, or other challenging roles can fully understand how "these things" can happen to "us". The PGR, military, and fire honors allowed his family, a fine family, to learn a little more of their estranged member, Neal. This service, this ceremony hopefully will contribute to the healing and completion that family deserves. Neal was a very private person and unless you had the honor of being in on one of his charity or service capers, you might not have crossed paths.

So thank you for your PGR service. Thank you for your stand. Thank you for the values your own attendance at PGR functions promotes. Most of all thank you for taking time to honor a man who you only come to know through his service and his friends--thank you for standing for our very good and much missed friend and brother, Neal Alan Davis. God Rest.
