I attended the funeral today of SFC David L. McDowell. As an Ex-Ranger myself, I was honored to have been in the presence of such honorable soldiers. I have not seen so many Rangers assembled in one place, since I was at Ranger school. The dedication and reverence that was shown towards SFC David L. McDowell was unsermountable. I will never forget the military service of this Ranger. Thank You SFC McDowell for your service and granting us the freedoms that sometimes we take for granted. "Airborne Sergent"

As I get ready to write to you, the words fall away as almost meaningless because of the pain I know you feel. I know, because I have felt that pain.

Know that you are NOT alone on this difficult path. Others are there to help you: reach out and embrace them, for they are offering not only themselves, but sharing with you that little bit of the Almighty that resides in all of us. This offering/sharing is what WILL give you the strength you will need to get thru. Trust me.

Any service related death, whether accident or illness, wounds received or KIA, warrant the Gold Star for the family. Don't let anyone tell you different.

I offer you my services, such as they are. If you want to talk, feel free to get in touch with me thru the PGR messaging. I WILL return your call/message. ANYTIME!

In the meantime know that my wife's and my prayers are with you.
