A Prayer for Our Soldiers' Families
Heavenly Father, we pray for the safe return home of our soldiers from Iraq and Afghanistan. We ask that you give our military commanders and political leaders wisdom and courage to fulfill their daunting responsibility. Lord, we implore you to please remember the families of these brave men and women. Bless the wives, parents, children and siblings of our fighting forces and give them solace and comfort. If it be your will, bring their loved ones home swiftly, sound in mind and body.
We pray these things in the name of the Son, the Father and the Holy Ghost,
Amen |

Lt. Walter Spencer has answered the call and has slipped the bonds of flesh to take his place in the life that lies beyond. None of us can say what waits for him on the other side. We only know that the veil between here and there has been lifted so that our brother may enter in and be initiated into the profound mystery of the unknown.
One we talked with yesterday is silent today. A friend who walked with us has gone on without us. Lt. Walter Spencer now knows the secret of life’s greatest mystery. We shall miss him and we shall remember him. No greater tribute can be paid to anyone than this; to say he lives on in the hearts and minds of his friends!
So, Lt. Walter Spencer, your name shall live on and the joy that you brought to others in this world will surely bring you divine affirmation on the other side.
Our thoughts are with his family, as they must continue on without him.

Walter -
It sounds as tho your life and your military career were both more impressive than you'd have us believe. It will be an honor to accompany you to your final resting place.

For those who joined us for Walt's escort, actually or in spirit, I want to personally thank you. I've known Walt for close to 20 years, and we considered him part of our family. Walt was one of the smartest people I've had the honor to meet, and one of the most pleasant I've had the pleasure to know.
Thanks to Backroad, Dobbs and Cpl. Don for the coordination help, and to everyone who came out and rode or stood in the rain and wind to honor this remarkable man.
Respectfully,
Coastie |
