Our sincere condolences to the family and friends of Spc. David P. McCormick, Thanks for being one of our heroes. God Bless. And God Bless, The fellow soldiers that stands for us everyday.Thank you for your dedicated service and sacrifice to defend this great nation of ours.
We salute you , My Friend
Final Inspection
The soldier stood and faced God, Which must always come to pass. He hoped his shoes were shining. Just as brightly as his brass. "Step forward now, soldier. How shall I deal with you? Have you always turned the other cheek? To My Church have you been true?" The soldier squared his shoulders and said, "No, Lord, I guess I ain't. Because those of us who carry guns, Can't always be a saint. I've had to work most Sundays, And at times my talk was tough. And sometimes I've been violent, Because the world is awfully rough. But, I never took a penny, That wasn't mine to keep.... Though I worked a lot of overtime. When the bills just got too steep. And I never passed a cry for help, Though at times I shook with fear. And sometimes, God, forgive me, I've wept unmanly tears. I know I don't deserve a place, Among the people here. They never wanted me around, Except to calm their fears. If you've a place for me here, Lord. It needn't be so grand. I never expected or had too much, But if you don’t, I’ll understand. There was a silence all around the throne, Where the saints had often trod. As the soldier waited quietly, For the judgment of his God. "Step forward now, soldier you’ve borne your burdens well. Walk peacefully on Heaven’s streets; you’ve done your time in Hell."

Words cannot express the deep sadness and respect this Blue Star family feels for Spc McCormick and his Gold Star family.
The best I can do is quote President Lincoln:
Executive Mansion, Washington, Nov. 21, 1864.
Dear Madam,--
I have been shown in the files of the War Department a statement of the Adjutant General of Massachusetts that you are the mother of five sons who have died gloriously on the field of battle.
I feel how weak and fruitless must be any word of mine which should attempt to beguile you from the grief of a loss so overwhelming. But I cannot refrain from tendering you the consolation that may be found in the thanks of the Republic they died to save.
I pray that our Heavenly Father may assuage the anguish of your bereavement, and leave you only the cherished memory of the loved and lost, and the solemn pride that must be yours to have laid so costly a sacrifice upon the altar of freedom.
Yours, very sincerely and respectfully,
A. Lincoln
I will attempt to ride down from Austin to honor Spc McCormick.

Though issues at work forced me to forego attending this particular mission, I feel the need to pass this on to everyone who attended it physically, along with those of us who were there in spirit:
Today, after attending the funeral mission for SPC Emily Ort, I headed back to my home in Rosenberg. As I prefer to do, I tend to take my time coming back, since none of these missions are easy for us, but we do them anyway. As I see it, the blood, sweat, and tears that I put into a mission pales in comparison to what is given up by the family of who we seek to honor, so I just put on the game face and do whatever I can to help.
So I decided, just before getting home, to stop at the local Chili's for a very late lunch, and continue to wind down from the day's events. To those of you who know me well, I don't tend to find myself speechless very often--but this was about to be one of those unusual occasions. While sitting at my table and replaying today's proceedings, a young man approached me, and introduced himself as Will McCormick, cousin of SPC David McCormick. He asked me to thank everyone for having been there, and doing what it is that the PGR does. You see, before the day of the service, Will had never heard of the Patriot Guard before--but he was very appreciative of what was done on his cousin's behalf. I was speechless, having been caught totally off guard. I wish I could have given him a better reply than the very quiet "Thank You" that he did get from me--I hope he already knows that.
To all the riders, cagers, and passengers who made the mission: THANK YOU, from the McCormick family, and from me too, for being there to show this fallen hero's family how much we truly appreciate his service and how we stand by them, physically or not, in their time of grief.
To the McCormick family: On behalf of ALL the Patriot Guard Riders, thank you for allowing us to be there--to share with you and to pay our respects to someone who truly deserves our respect.
Todd
