Mission complete 30 Marines home and lots of happy families.

As we made the turn in to the reserve center and the famlies saw the motorcycles arriving, I heard one of the family member say now thats what I like. After parking and getting flags out group move over to the area where the bus would enter with the returning Marines. When the bus was spotted everyone came to attention and waited as the escorts came in their side of the drive and then finally the bus entered down the exit drive and stopped at the end of the drive to unload 30 very happy but tired Marines.

We then move to the edge of the drive in front of the building and waited as families and Marines continued to find and greet each other. With all the local news channels present and requesting interviews it took a while before they formed their last formation and thanked a special group of ladies that worked very hard while they were deployed. These ladies were the back bone of the units family support group and without them things could have been very hard for the unit.

I would like to thank each and everyone of them for their service as well as our contact with the 4th Mar Div for inviting the PGR to be apart of this event.

Have a Blessed Day

The following is two different emails that I received ater the mission showing the feeling of family at the Welcome home for these Men.

From: Patrice:

Here's a copy of what I sent out to our family members. My feelings in
words......!!! So glad we could all be together!

A recap of yesterday...
WOW!!! What a day!! Here is what happened....

Monday April 28, 3:00pm Phillip has landed in Birmingham!!!!!!!!!

Imagine this....The plane lands and they were hurried onto a chartered bus.
We were all told to be at the Marine Center in Bessemer and wait for them.
Veterans lined the entrance, standing still for about one hour with their
tall flags touching the sky. Red, white and blue flash everywhere. Families
arrive and we hug and exhale a bit more. News crews showed up as well as the
Marine officers and comrads. This has to be routine - but they make it seem
new and original for everyone. They are smiling in anticipation too.
Then we got the word...they are on their way!!! 3:45pm A dozen police cars
and fire engines with lights flashing and horns blowing bring our precious
cargo into sight!! We stick our flags and signs high in the air so they
will know they are loved. Then the bus unloads...one...by one...to cheers,
whistles and hoots... I keep watching, where is he? Then the fourth one
off looks familiar as his blue eyes flash my way. A little thinner, but more
muscles. The boy that left more than 8 months ago has come back a young man!
I frantically wave my sign proudly at him as his pace quickens I don't know
where the flag is now as I grab him and squeeze him like a boa constrictor.
I close my sobbing eyes and thank God Almighty for letting me live this
moment. It seemed a lifetime since I saw him off at the airport eight
months ago. The tearful sobs then were filled with uncertainty and fear as I
watched his back disappear down the plane walkway. But today, they are
tears of joy and grattitude. ...........Thank God for bringing this hero
home!!!

From Kathryn

My 20-year-old son, a lance corporal, arrived in Bessemer, AL, with the Anti-Terrorism Battalion, 4th LAR, yesterday. Thanks to all who participated in the welcome.

Seeing the bikers arrive in a motorcade and stand in the flag line was a thrilling sight. I feel so honored that you chose to respect our Marines this way. Please accept my sincerest gratitude.

Sincerely,
Kathryn
