Thank you for your service and sacrifice in defending and protecting our freedoms. As a nation we mourn your loss, and we will remember you always as a true American hero. To the family, I offer my prayers and support. I understand a little of what you are going through-my son, a Marine LCpl, was killed in Iraq. I pray wonderful memories of your dear warrior help eventually to ease the pain you endure today. Your hero will never be forgotten-he leaves a legacy of honor and courage that few will ever achieve. Today's escort from the airport was truly touching. I can't think of a better way to pay tribute to a fallen hero, than to see all the people who came out today to share their time and feelings with the Cunningham family.
Now, one could focus on what the PGR did, which I did feel was very impressive. Many bikes, some with flags, others without, but all ridden by men and women with hearts of gold. In addition, there were those in cages, who equally impress me with their commitment to America's fallen. Then there was the flag line, which lined the tarmac, then enveloped the plane and Lt Cunningham, while the family paid their respects. Many people, standing silently, being there for a family who they all care very much about.
Today, though, I am not here to speak about what we, the PGR did, but rather what everyone else did. Law enforcement support was OUTSTANDING. Police officers, fire department, and EMS personnel all came together to control traffic where necessary, but also to pay respects and render honors as the procession passed by. Businesses emptied out onto the side of the road, students lined the front of their respective schools, and average citizens paid their respects along the road--some planned to be there when the procession passed, some were caught out-and-about.
I truly hope that the Cunningham family understands just how much the people of Southeast Texas truly appreciate Tim's service, and mourn with you for your loss. You could see those feelings echoed in countless faces; in the signs, banners, and flags that many people held; in the salutes and hands-over-hearts of the people we passed; and the tears that were shed by all today. We are with you.
Tomorrow, I will be there with you again. My heart, however, is there with you right now.

It was an honor to escort Lt. Cunningham today. I put a few pictures here but as Todd said, the real story was the turnout from the small towns along the route. Awesome.

Just a few more words from me:
I was honored to be at the services on Thursday, just as I was honored to be part of the airport escort on Wednesday. I am still thoroughly impressed with how much the members of the surrounding communities did to show how they feel about Tim.
So, today, after leaving a fund-raising benefit for an injured firefighter, I decided to just ride around a bit--kinda help clear the head, you know. Well, it didn't take long before I was humbled yet again. As I rode around, I saw a good number of billboards--some off the beaten path and away from the route taken for the escort--that still displayed messages about how much we all appreciate Tim's service, and how our hearts are still there. Thank you (again) to everyone who did their part to show Lt Cunningham and his family the honor they so truly deserve. I can't say enough...
