I had a pleasant conversation with Matt's father today and I want to share our conversation with you all. Matt McCool is an amazing young man. He has sustained major injuries and all he talks about is returning to duty. He will be assigned to a wounded warrior unit at Fort Lewis, Washington while he continues to recover. He told his father, "I will go back if the Army will take me".  A true warrior for sure.

Matt's story is one of amazing luck, all things considered. He was struck in the head by an RPG-type explosive. The device bounced off his helmet and exploded above him. It should have destroyed him on impact…The fact that all he talks about is returning to duty just blows me away and speaks on the true heart and soul of our military men and women.

While Matt was recovering in Palo Alto, a group of veteran bikers paid a visit to the hospital. Matt went outside and sat on a tricked out bike and met all of the biker's. Apparently the visit had a huge impact on Matt's attitude and well being. Matt's dad says an escort from Bakersfield to his home in Tehachapi will make Matt's return very special.
