Thanks to all who honored Jonathon last night in attending the escort and holding the flag line at the funeral home. We had 14 bikes in 40 degree weather with some light drizzle. There were five new members and it was an honor for the transit authority to allow the bikes to ride across the tarmac to the aircraft.

The Cote family really appreciated your efforts.

Thank you all……

BUMP for UPDATE

Only two defining forces have ever offered to die for you: 1. Jesus Christ. 2. The American G.I. One died for your soul, the other for your Freedom.

Thanks to all who braved the cold last night to welcome Jonathan Cote home. Some people have asked about the prayer I read at the funeral home because they were too far away to hear. Below is the version I read:

God grant us the serenity
to accept the things we cannot change;
courage to change the things we can;
and wisdom to know the difference.

Living one day at a time;
enjoying one moment at a time;
accepting hardships as the pathway to peace;
taking, as He did, this sinful world
as it is, not as we would have it;
trusting that He will make all things right
if we surrender to His Will;
that we may be reasonably happy in this life
and supremely happy with Him
forever in the next.

Amen.

My sympathies go out to all friends and family of Sgt. Jonathan Cote.  His decision to serve those in another country even after having fulfilled his obligations to the US Army are especially noteworthy.  I pray for his spirit and soul, knowing that he is at peace and looking down warmly on all those that prayed for him during his time in captivity.

God speed, Sgt. Cote.

I wish I were able to get to the area to stand in line to honor you and say "Thanks Soldier.  Well Done" in person.

Mission complete….and THANK ALL MEMBERS in WNY for the turn out and support to Honor Jonathon and to support the Cote family. For the two days of visitations we had 26 the first night and 17 the second night standing for Jonathon, which is rather good for a week day and at times in the light rain. They are estimating that there was about a 1000 attending each night.

Also at the service we had about 20 some bikes in the escort and 25 members standing for Jonathon and a good turn out at the cemetery. The estimate at the funeral was at 800+.

The NY PGR has received emails from the family thanking us for standing for Jonathon and supporting them during this time. I have received these emails but they are addressed to you, the members of WNY.

We have also seen a large increase of new members in the past few days and this must be a result from our presence at the mission for Jonathon.

Again, thank you all for your support and ride safe….

Dear PGR brothers and Sisters,

Thank you from the bottom of my heart. Words alone cannot express the gratitude and pride I have for you. Standing in the cold for hours on end was a great tribute to Jonathon Cote. David Cullen was superman, he was everywhere, in the sky, on the ground, scouting locations, staging zones, making plans, changing plans. I never realized the work and hours he puts into making everything go smooth. You the Patriot Guard Riders provided the public with the greatest example of R-E-S-P-E-C-T that our troops and fallen soldiers greatly deserve. I am so proud to stand with you.

God bless each and everyone of you,

Edward Kornowski

I like everyone else in WNY has been following this story for a while and its a sad ending to a brave soldiers life. May God Bless Jonathon Cote and his family. I wish I could have been there to stand with my PGR bretheren but I am once again in the sandbox myself. Rest In Peace Jonathon.
