Richard A. Horn WWII Navy veteran

Richard A. Horn E.M.2/C  (Electrician Mate 2nd Class)  served his country in WWII with the US-Navy from 1943-1946.  Originally drafted and given the option of serving with the Army or Navy, he choose the Navy.  Inducted March 17 1943 and later honorably discharged March 3 1946.  Home base was in the keys but he spent most of his time patrolling the south east coast of the US and waters around Cuba.  His ship was PCS(Patrol Craft Small) 1392 and their job was to patrol for submarines in the Atlantic.  I don't believe they were ever fired upon but they did come in contact with some subs.  Ben, one of his 1st cousins, was drafted at the same time and choose to enter the Army.  Ben and Ben's brother Bill were both killed in WWII.  Pretty scary to think what would have happened if Poppy would have picked the Army instead!  Horn Field in Muskego is named after the fallen brothers along with the Hoeppner-Horn VFW post in New Berlin.  I believe that a request was put in to have a military honors conducted at the interment on Wednesday.

 Hope this helps with the Patriot Guard listing.  I know that my grandfather was extremely proud of the fact that he served his country!

Our sincere condolences to the family and friends of Richard A. Horn, Navy, WWII Veteran. May God help you though this difficult time and sorrow. He is one of America's Heroes that will never be forgotten.

Rest Safely and Securely in God's Loving Arms, Richard.

Going home, going home,
I'm just going home.
Quiet-like, slip away-
I'll be going home.
It's not far, just close by;
Jesus is the Door;
Work all done, laid aside,
Fear and grief no more.
Friends are there, waiting now.
He is waiting, too.
See His smile! See His hand!
He will lead me through.

Morning Star lights the way;
Restless dream all done;
Shadows gone, break of day,
Life has just begun.
Every tear wiped away,
Pain and sickness gone;
Wide awake there with Him!
Peace goes on and on!
Going home, going home,
I'll be going home.
See the Light! See the Sun!
I'm just going home.
