Thank you for your willingness to defend the United States of America and her freedoms and interests. Your death brings much sorrow and sadness to the hearts and lives of your family, friends, military brothers and sisters, each and every member of the Patriot Guard Riders, and all who truly appreciate their freedom. A Prayer for Our Soldiers' Families

Heavenly Father, we pray for the safe return home of our soldiers from Iraq and Afghanistan. We ask that you give our military commanders and political leaders wisdom and courage to fulfill their daunting responsibility. Lord, we implore you to please remember the families of these brave men and women. Bless the wives, parents, children and siblings of our fighting forces and give them solace and comfort. If it be your will, bring their loved ones home swiftly, sound in mind and body.

We pray these things in the name of the Son, the Father and the Holy Ghost,

Amen

Our sincere condolences to the family and friends of PFC Dennis M. Springer, WWII Veteran. May God help you though this difficult time and sorrow. He is one of America's Heroes that will never be forgotten.

Rest Safely and Securely in God's Loving Arms, Dennis.

Going home, going home,
I'm just going home.
Quiet-like, slip away-
I'll be going home.
It's not far, just close by;
Jesus is the Door;
Work all done, laid aside,
Fear and grief no more.
Friends are there, waiting now.
He is waiting, too.
See His smile! See His hand!
He will lead me through.

Morning Star lights the way;
Restless dream all done;
Shadows gone, break of day,
Life has just begun.
Every tear wiped away,
Pain and sickness gone;
Wide awake there with Him!
Peace goes on and on!
Going home, going home,
I'll be going home.
See the Light! See the Sun!
I'm just going home.

I would like to extend my deepest condolences to the family and friends of this American Hero who stood tall for his homeland during this very sad time in your lives, but remember that you knew a hero first hand while the rest of us just get to hear about their heroic deeds. My prayers are that our GOD may bring peace and comfort to all of you during this tragic time. Please know that not just me , but a country full of people like me owe you a debt that can never be repaid. But please know that your loved one is now serving in the Army of our LORD in heaven, and the LORD said if I go to prepare a place for you, I will come again and recieve you unto myself that where I am there you may be also. Know that it says in the Bible in 2nd Corinthians 5:8 , we are confident I say , willing rather to be absent from the body and present with the LORD. No one can ever say that your loved one isn't a HERO, they were willing to serve that the rest of us may enjoy the freedom we do today, and the sacrifice you and your family have endured so our nation can remain the home of the free because of the brave. We are all brothers and sisters in arms and we don't forget one of our own, rest in peace my comrade, your mission is complete and now it's time for you to rest. May GOD Bless each and everyone of you.

Friday's weather is supposed to be in the mid-70's.  If you hear any mention of isolated thunderstorms, ignore it - if we wanted to stay dry, we wouldn't be riding motorcycles.

I'll be at Mr. B's early to have a bite if anyone cares to join me.

Briefing is still at 13:50.

MISSION REPORT

About 14-15 PGR members and PFC Springer's family honored the WWII Army veteran at ALNC in Elwood, IL on Friday.  Altho the weather was threatening and windy, it was also one of the warmest days so far in 2008.  Some of us, including the family, had a leisurely lunch at Mr. B's before the 13:50 briefing and subsequent procession down Rte 53 to the cemetery.  Due to the short ride and low traffic on Rte 53, we anticipated not having an LEO with us.  However, at 13:45, one of the motorcycle officers from New Lenox showed up to assist with the mission.  We appreciated his help, and I'll be sending a thank you to his Chief.

In spite of 17 other funerals taking place on Friday, ALNC did their usual outstanding job.  My personal thanks to Mom and Senior Hog for making the presentation of the mission flag and plaque to the family.  And thanks to everyone who reminded me to pick up a couple of ALNC maps for Gold Star parking lot duty, another upcoming mission.

And thanks to all the PGR members who continue to amaze me by showing up during working hours on a Friday.  I've often said that each death of one of these Vets is like setting fire to part of a library.  Our country will miss their courage, dedication, committment and character at a time that was so critical to the nation.

With respect,
al (Backroad)
