10 Apr 2008 8:10 PM Alert

Our Hero, PFC Dennis M. Springer will be interred at the Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery (ALNC).  PFC. Springer’s daughter, Denise, a PGR member and an active member of WildFire Harley Davidson in Villa Park, has asked the PGR to help honor her father with a short ride and a flag line at the ALNC service.  The service is scheduled to take place at 14:30.

***** MISSION DETAILS *****

DATE:

Friday, 4/25/08

STAGING LOCATION:

Mr. B’s Bar & Grill – 23956 Rte 53 – Elwood, IL

STAGING TIME:

13:30.  If you intend to eat lunch prior to the escort, be sure to leave yourself enough time.

BRIEFING:

13:50 - with departure for ALNC at 14:00.

PFC Springer’s escort will run south 5 miles on Rte 53 from Mr. B’s to ALNC at speeds not exceeding 50 mph.  For your own safety and the safety of others in the escort, please make sure your flags and mounting hardware are secure.  Rte 53 in Elwood is pretty much a “ride in the country” and there are only two signaled intersections between Mr. B’s and ALNC.  Therefore, we will probably not be requesting a police escort.

RC team:

Brenda “Mom Hog” Myers – 630-742-2321 – wd9egk@comcast.net

Thanks everyone for the condolances for my father. He was 90 when he passed away and he really did not bring up his time in the Army too much. His ship (USS Comfort) was hit while he was on the ship (but that is all I know about that).

He was diagnosed with Alzheimers and unfortunately it took a toll on him and the family. But he was a man who would truly give you the shirt off of his back if you needed help. When he lived in a senior citizen's home he would take anybody who needed a ride to the doctor or grocery store without question (especially the ladies). He was a lady's man! And the one thing that everybody knew him for was his black Harry Carey glasses!

I have been a patriot guard rider for many years and have tried to make as many missions as I could. I am so grateful for the PGR as it has given me an avenue to show how thankful I am to the soldiers that have given of themselves so that we can live in freedom!

Thank you for your support and hope to see you for this memorial.
