I am willing to suit up and ride in the snow and ice to honor our Maine fallen...it would be the least I can & will do.

I (we) have many contacts here in Maine via the Army National Guard if organizers need any info...I might beable to help out.

by the way... No, Shawn Dostie is not related to Thomas Dotsie of the 133rd (my siginificant other served with Tom Dotsie in Iraw throughout Dec 2003 - March 2005.

To my state Captain: MAINE: Please let me know if his family (mother) in Maine wants us there...I will be!

Sounds like the memorial service was at Ft. Campbell this past Saturday, January 7th -- http://www.legacy.com/Belleville/Obituaries.asp?Page=LifeStory&PersonId=16222243

Funeral to follow later in Maine article says.  Sgt. Dostie's father is Robert Fugere of Rumford, Maine.

Mike, heads up I guess.

In Illinois, the flag is flown half-mast on the actual day of the funeral.  Was this a memorial in Illinois?  Or the funeral in Maine?

I can only speak for / about Maine: because Shawn Dostie grew up here and still has family ties here, the Governor ordered flags to flown at half-mast on the 11th: when he was laid to rest in Arlington.

There has been no funeral here in Maine that I am currently aware of. However, rumor has it that there might be some type of service for him in the Lewiston (mother's area) or Rumford (father's area) shortly...with in the next week or two?

Also, rumor has it that his wife will be relocating to Maine??

Hi Everyone: HighSalute here from Maine...and Shawn Dostie's cousin contacted me via email dated the 10th. She was here on the site and read our correspondence here. She then put out an emal to me (I am unsure if she tried to contact anyone else here). Anyway, here is what she wrote:

Hi! I saw that a discussion was taking place regarding my husband's cousin Shawn. His parents Bob and Delaine Fugere live in Lewiston. There will be a memorial here in the near future. We haven't heard the date for this yet. Hope that clarifies some things for you guys! You do a hell of a job and should be very proud of the wonderful things you do! I'm not sure if you check this email, but thought I'd give it a shot

Unfortunately, I didn't check my email until tonight...I responded in hopes she will contact me again....hopefully we will soon have this contact lined up and see if the family wants us at the LEWISTON, MAINE memorial. TO THE MAINE STATE CAPTAIN: Please contact me via email or phone, I think I forwarded my phone number when I originally contacted you a couple of weeks ago.

Family members of Sgt. 1st Class Shawn C. Dostie called me this morning. I had a very nice conversation with Heather and directed her to get in touch with Jeff or Jason (per Kurt's instruction). To date, although they plan on having a memorial service here in Maine, they are still unclear as to when it will be. They are awaiting on Sgt 1st Class Dostie's wife and children to arrive in Maine and then arrangements will be made and finalized.

I explained to Heather that unfortunately, I could not offer her much information regarding the arrangement and attendence of PGR's: these arrangements rest at the State Captains level. To ensure that all goes perfect for them, she would need to contact Jeff or Jason.

She requested that I let you all know "what you guys do is awesome". She is so thankful for all the prayers and condolences for her and the family. Also, "thanks for respecting Shawn's service and acknowledging him as a Hero: Cause he is ."

I offered my condolences & assitance to her and her family regarding anything else except the arrangement of the PGR's. During our conversation she stated that she hoped we would talk again. I assured her that I would call her this week just to 'check in' and see how she was doing. At the end of the conversation, she thankfully and excitedly stated "I'll get to meet some of you at the service!"

Our conversation was very tender and she brought tears to my eyes several times. My heart and prayers go out to her and the family for the loss of our AMERICAN HERO: Sgt. 1st Class Shawn C. Dostie.

I just spoke with a member of Shawn's family. Not much new information, but it appears we will be involved.

As before, we are awaiting the arrival of his immediate family moving here from IL. The local service is yet to be announced.

Thank you Highsalute for your help here in Maine, and to the rest of you for forwarding your information to us. Special thanks to all of you who have served and to those who continue to serve.
