This is the final ANC Mission Plan!
Sgt (ret) Nelson R Dicks, USMC DAV, Viet Nam Veteran, and beloved husband of PGR member Sue Dicks, is to be laid to his eternal rest at the Columbarium on the hallowed grounds of Arlington National Cemetery (ANC) on 25 April, 2008 at approximately 0900 hours from the Administration Building.
Sue wrote: "Nelson died August 31,2007 but his burial service had to be delayed since our son, an Active Duty Marine, was deploying immediately and services at Arlington could not be scheduled before he left." Their son and his unit have returned to friendly soil, and will be present for the services.
PGR is honored to escort the family and their close friends to ANC, and to stand tall, silent and proud for this Hero and his family.

This is a confirmed ANC Mission -
Planning is under way and a mission plan will be posted once that is done.
From Sue Dicks, PGR member:
My name is Sue Dicks and I am currently a member of the FL PGR.
I am not sure how to request that the PGR stand honors for my husbands services at Arlington. I did use the contact link to contact the Arlington Team but have not heard from them.
My husband's service is scheduled for 9am on Friday, April 25th at the Columbarium. His name is Nelson R Dicks, Sgt, USMC, DAV - 100% service connected. He was a Vietnam Vet and served from 1960-1967.
Nelson died August 31,2007 but his burial service had to be delayed since our son, an Active Duty Marine, was deploying immediately and services at Arlington could not be scheduled before he left.
Would someone please contact me and let me know what I need to do to have the PGR present for the services?
I have responded: Consider it done! I will be in contact shortly!

| I would like to extend my deepest condolences to the family and friends of this American Hero who stood tall for his homeland in this very sad time in your lives, but remember that you knew a hero first hand while the rest of us just get to hear about their heroic deeds. My prayers are that our GOD may bring peace and comfort to all of you during this tragic time. Please know that not just me , but a country full of people like me owe you a dept that can never be repaid. But please know that your loved one is now serving in the Army of our LORD in heaven, and the LORD said if I go to prepare a place for you, I will come again and recieve you unto myself that where I am there you may be also. Know that it says in the Bible in 2nd Corinthians 5:8 , we are confident I say , willing rather to be absent from the body and present with the LORD. No one can ever say that your loved one isn't a HERO, they were willing to serve that the rest of us may enjoy the freedom we do today, and the sacrifice you and your family have endured so our nation can remain the home of the free because of the brave. We are all brothers and sisters in arms and we don't forget one of our own, rest in peace my comrade, your mission is complete and now it's time for you to rest. May GOD Bless each and everyone of you. |

I Remember You
When I walk into my church,
free and without fear,
I remember you.
When I see children playing in the school yard,
girls and boys of all kinds,
I remember you.
When I see families working together,
regardless of religion or nationality,
I remember you.
When I go to sleep
without worry for my family's safety,
I remember you.
When I see our flag waving in front of my home,
and when I can salute that flag without fear of
reprisal,
I remember you.
When I remember you,
I think of the sacrifices you made so I could
have these things.
I think of your commitment and your service
beyond mere duty.
I think of all that you have given
so that I and those whom I love can be free.
When I pray at night and give thanks
for the blessings God has given,
I remember you.

Our sincere condolences to the family and friends of Sgt (ret) Nelson R Dicks, USMC DAV, Viet Nam Veteran. May God help you though this difficult time and sorrow. He is
one of America's Heroes that will never be forgotten.
Rest Safely and Securely in God's Loving Arms, Nelson.
Going home, going home,
I'm just going home.
Quiet-like, slip away-
I'll be going home.
It's not far, just close by;
Jesus is the Door;
Work all done, laid aside,
Fear and grief no more.
Friends are there, waiting now.
He is waiting, too.
See His smile! See His hand!
He will lead me through.
Morning
Star lights the way;
Restless dream all done;
Shadows gone, break of day,
Life has just begun.
Every tear wiped away,
Pain and sickness gone;
Wide awake there with Him!
Peace goes on and on!
Going home, going home,
I'll be going home.
See the Light! See the Sun!
I'm just going home.

I am Nelsons daughter and I would like to let y'all know how very much it meant to us for you to be there. You were amazing at guarding this Marine to his resting place. We saw you stop traffic with a single hand, meaning to let no one come between him, his family and our destination. You stood guard throughout his service and until this job was complete. We were very honored and grateful for your being there for us in bringing our Marine to rest with his brothers.
It was a very sad day for us but we left knowing he was in good hands surrounded by men and women such as yourselves who will always stand ready to protect him from harm and give of yourselves when asked.
The memories I have of my fathers day are phenomenal starting with the sounds of your arrival in the morning knowing he was not forgotten nor left to go it alone. It was truly a wonderful day,a beautifully honorable service that ending with welcomed hugs and handshakes between us. I thank the Lord for each of you who gave your time that day to ensure the safe arrival of my Dad to his rightful place of rest. Much love to you all..... Laurie Dicks. |

| I would like to thank all of those who have left messages for the family and especially the PGR members who provided such wonderful support and escort for my husband Nelson's service at Arlington. I know Nelson would have been honored to know that so many Marines and PGR members stood to honor him that day.
My sincere thanks for the support and wonderful memories you have all given to us, his family.
