----------UPDATE ------We should probably think about meeting at 9:30 atThe Reserve Center addy is 819 Summit ave. west., Ladysmith 54848. the H.S. addy is 1700 Edgewood. I was just informed last night that the processional will arrive at the H.S. at 10:45 and it would be nice if we had the rows of flags set by then. we'll have to stage up and move out pretty quick, so the earlier you get to the meeting spot, the better.

Wisconsin State Captain

------UPDATE----- SSG Vachos funeral service will be Tue. May 16th at 11:00 a.m. at the Ladysmith H.S. We will meet at the Army Reserve center parking lot by 10:00 a.m. The reserve center is on Hwy 27 , several blocks north of Hwy. 8, on the right hand side, just past the tracks. Most likely we will be lining Hwy. 8 with flags as the processional enters. This may change , we will keep you updated. The H.S. is just off Hwy. 8 on the east side of town.

Wisconsin State Captain

This will be a confirmed mission. We are invited. The service will be in Ladysmith at the High School. They have not yet confirmed a date.I will post it as soon as i know. Mac

Sgt. Vacho is from a military family in Ladysmith.

The story was on tonight's news here in Madison.

I have family in the Ladysmith area.

Count me in.

My thoughts and deepest feelings go out to the Vacho family.

Hello all!

First, let me introduce myself:

SFC Stephen D. MacKellar
A Co, 397th EN BN
Ladysmith WI 54848

I was appointed by Casualty Assistance Command, Ft. Leonard Wood, as Casualty Assistance Officer for the Father and Mother of SSG Nathan Vacho on 05 May (posthumous promotion order pending, but DA has approved).  I've known the Vachos now for over six years, and worked with CSM John Vacho daily here in Ladysmith for five of those, minus one year when we were both deployed to theater.

CSM Vacho is currently assigned as the 88th Reserve Readiness Command Command Sergeant Major--a command covering MN, WI, IL, IN, MI, and OH.  His high-profile position might make this funeral a target.

Because of that, and since also his son was an avid motorcyclist, he asked me to look into requesting support for the funeral service.  How do I go about requesting/coordinating this?  I'm also looking into support from the Rolling Thunder MC.

SFC Mac

. . . by the way, the DoD release erroneously lists him from Janesville. His HOR was actually Ladysmith--and that's where the funeral will be.
