*********************MISSION UPDATE***************************
Unfortunately I was not able to make contact with Mr. Hurley's son to firm up a few minor details for this mission. However, things should be relatively simple, especially since there will no cemetery services tomorrow. As earlier posted, we will be staging at the Shop-N-Save grocery store lot next to the church. Vickie Berry has been kind enough to make that contact for us. Staging times remain the same.
One important note: DRESS WARM! Terra Alta is at a high elevation, with normal temperatures 10-15 degrees lower than the rest of the world, and it is typically windy.
Due to the fact that I now also have a sick 7 year old, there is the chance that I might not make it. However, Jacob and I will make every attempt to be there depending on how he feels. If I cannot make it, Ron will be able to handle details, and Vickie has also graciouslly offered to help, which will work well since she knows the area.
Call or email me with any questoins you may have.

The Patriot Guard Riders have been invited to stand for Korean War Veteran James Hurley of Terra Alta, WV, who lost his courageous battle with cancer on 08 Feb. This will be a two-stage/two day mission for the PGR! Funeral services will be held at the Lifegate Church (Wesleyan) in Terra Alta at 1500 on Sunday, 10 Feb 08. There is NO sign on the front of the church however it is easily spotted as it is a very new building. The church is located beside the Shop-N-Save Supermarket and across the street from J&J Ford in Terra Alta (http://tinyurl.com/2kqrq6). Staging will be in the parking lot of the Shop-N-Save at 1330, briefing at 1345 and flag line in place NLT 1400. Interment will be in the West Virginia National Cemetery in Pruntytown, WV (http://tinyurl.com/273oqd) on Monday, 11 Feb 08, at 1100. We have been requested to provide a flag line for these services also. Barry Bledsoe will be the Ride Captain for the funeral services on Sunday. Anyone who can CONFIRM their intentions to be there is asked to please call him at (304) 692-6900 as he may be late in arriving. Attempts are being made to secure a RC for Monday's services. All who are available are requested to make an effort to stand for another of our heroes from the "Forgotten War". Current weather forecast for the area on Sunday is calling for extremely cold temperatures with highs in high teens. Please dress accordingly. As there is no escort, cages are encouraged. Respects, Joe

Mr. Hurley, a grateful nation thanks you for your honorable service during a most difficult time, helping to protect and defend our freedom and liberties. May God welcome you with open arms as you approach the gates of Heaven.
May you family, friends and community realize that you are now in a place far better than those who remain on earth. May they find healing in God's comfort and mercy and understand that you continue to watch over them from your place among the Angels.
To your son, John, a very special thank you for your ongoing service to our country.
Stand at ease James. Your tour of duty is now complete. God Speed Sir.
Due to medical commitments I will be unable to attend this mission but know that I will be with all my PGR brothers and sisters in spirit as you stand for another of America's Heroes. Respects, Joe |

Our sincere condolences to the family and friends of James Hurley, Korean War Veteran. May God help you though this difficult time and sorrow. He is
one of America's Heroes that will never be forgotten.
Rest Safely and Securely in God's Loving Arms, James.
Going home, going home,
I'm just going home.
Quiet-like, slip away-
I'll be going home.
It's not far, just close by;
Jesus is the Door;
Work all done, laid aside,
Fear and grief no more.
Friends are there, waiting now.
He is waiting, too.
See His smile! See His hand!
He will lead me through.
Morning
Star lights the way;
Restless dream all done;
Shadows gone, break of day,
Life has just begun.
Every tear wiped away,
Pain and sickness gone;
Wide awake there with Him!
Peace goes on and on!
Going home, going home,
I'll be going home.
See the Light! See the Sun!
I'm just going home.

Final Inspection
The soldier stood and faced God, Which must always come to pass. He hoped his shoes were shining. Just as brightly as his brass. "Step forward now,soldier. How shall I deal with you? Have you always turned the other cheek? To My Church have you been true?" The soldier squared his shoulders and said, "No, Lord, I guess I ain't. Because those of us who carry guns, Can't always be a saint. I've had to work most Sundays, And at times my talk was tough. And sometimes I've been violent, Because the world is awfully rough. But, I never took a penny, That wasn't mine to keep.... Though I worked a lot of overtime. When the bills just got too steep. And I never passed a cry for help, Though at times I shook with fear. And sometimes, God, forgive me, I've wept unmanly tears. I know I don't deserve a place, Among the people here. They never wanted me around, Except to calm their fears. If you've a place for me here, Lord. It needn't be so grand. I never expected or had too much, But if you don’t, I’ll understand. There was a silence all around the throne, Where the saints had often trod. As the soldier waited quietly, For the judgment of his God. "Step forward now,soldier you’ve borne your burdens well. Walk peacefully on Heaven’s streets; you’ve done your time in Hell."
