Hollywood,
If your're leaving Bridgeville around 08:45, that should put you in the Wheeling area around 09:30. I can meet you at Perkins' Restaurant off the Oglebay exit before you get to the tunnels. Not hard to find, as it's right off the exit, plus you can see the sign from the interstate. I'll be there ready to roll. Anyone else interested, you're more than welcome to join us. Hollywood, why don't we exchange e-mails with cell #'s just in case.

Ron:
WILL meet you at the Perkins, know it well. Anyone else, leaving Bridgeville at 8:45am arriving Wheeling about 9:30 will arrive in Cambridge about 10:15-10:30 to meet up with Vulcan and others at the Truck Stop. Everyone ride safe, rain is in the forecast. Better to arrive a little later than not to arrive at all.

Being retired it makes it easier for me to go on missions.
Probably because I'm an old man who worrys too much once in a while I see a new mission and worry about the turn-out. I'll think middle of the work week, weather looks like possible rain and a dozen other things.
Then I come here and look at posts from my "family" from up by the lake, clear over almost to Indiana, Pa. Mich, W.Va, Ky and points in between and again I am humbled to be considered one of you.
As we honor another hero once again I am filled with sadness but also with pride some people will never know.
Be safe,
Butch |

To Butch and the rest of the Patriot Guard Riders watching.
I too am grateful to be able to serve. When I think of the time, gas, lack of sleep, I only am reminded of the sacrifices those that serve our country must be encountering. Not to mention the sacrifices of the loved ones back home, doing without their presence of body. When I think sometimes of how fast life is going, and how much faster I have to go just to keep up, I am reminded of how truly blessed I am to be able to ride the ride of respect.
I used to worry about attendance, but no more. Even in the past winter members have shown their resolve to support and respect in below freezing temperatures. I have witnessed members in the rain, soaked to the bone, only making it tough to distinguish the tears. I have been hugged by mothers and fathers who I have never laid eyes on, before that hug. I have shook the hand and saluted Army, Navy, Air Force, and Marines, and had eye contact stating a mutual respect of duty. I have witnessed the love of hundreds of strangers.
Oh, how blessed we are to be able to do what we do, at least this one time. Only to hope we are blessed enough to continue on another time. No, I don't worry anymore, for things are in HIS hands, and HE is guiding us to do what is right, and providing us the strength to go on, and on. HE rides an invisible sidecar, a magic one, that still allows me to lean into a curve. HE guides me safely to my Mission, then home to my family. He finds me when I'm lost. HE is sending us to aid these families, and WE are. HE has brought us ugly hate only to bring out beautiful love.
So please, take the time once a day to realize how blessed every single day is. And always remember those that sacrifice their days for our freedoms. And I can't even imagine what I have ever done to deserve this wonderful Brotherhood that has been named the Patriot Guard Riders. It has always been here, but who knew? HE DID !

Tater, I don't even know where to begin a comment after your post. All I can say is, "Fellow PGR brothers and sisters, this is what it's all bout." We shoudn't be concerned about the "little" things "we"want. The fallen servicemen and women have given us their all. Why don't we just honor them with all we have left. I'm proud to be with the PGR.

Please page down and view the Mission Itinerary posted by "kzohio" the assigned Ohio Ride Captain.
I urge you all to be safe in your travels, don't rush, nothing is more important than your safe return home to your families.
We thank you for your support for the Rush Family, friends, and community. May our presence be an everlasting statement of our appreciation for the sacrifices of Ben and his family for our country. May we respectfully represent all Americans to this family and those watching. I hope the Rush Family realizes that over 30,000 members are with us in spirit.
May Ben rest in peace knowing the fight for freedom and peace will continue throughout time. May he know that his life was appreciated, meaningful, and an example to all of us and future generations to follow. We shall continue our support for those that fight the good fight for our way of life. And may those that have paid this ultimate price know that we will never forget them.
I for one, am HONORED to be invited to this celebration of Ben's life. There are countless others wishing they could be at this celebration also, in honor of Ben. How fortunate we are to be able to stand for Ben this day. |

It was an honor and privilege to stand for him today. Lets hope that our missions begin to wane soon. Rest easy LCpl Rush, God is with you on this mission.

LCpl Benjamin Rush's family: thank you for the invitation to join you in honoring his service, sacrifice and memory alongside the VFW, Leathernecks, and others. It was an honor to stand with you in your time of grief. God bless you.
Wild ride home! Haven't been that wet while clothed in a couple years. Thankfully, my cell phone survived ... it'll be in a zip-lock bag next time! Hope everyone else got home safely, too. Nice meeting you all (re-meeting some). Take care.

Home safe last night late. Took a wrong turn that led me through some beautiful Amish country though. Wet, tired and proud would about explain it.
It was certainly great to see you all and surely welcomed the out of state support on this Mission of Respect. Without the other states supporting this, Ohio would have looked pretty weak. We really appreciate you all.
Captains, you did good. Now if we can just get everyone to show up on time at the staging area ! HEHE Better safe than sorry I suppose.
Unfortunately my attendance range at Missions is going to have to shrink a bit. I'm not getting any younger, and can't afford to miss much more work, as I did last night. What I did bring from this mission is that I don't have to be at every one, the Ride Captains in Ohio have things well in hand and do a good job at setting up. As always, things change at the last minute, but they made last minute decisions and adapted to the families wishes.
The plaque for Ben's family was waiting on me when I got home. I will hook up with Chris to get this to them.
To the Rush family, all I can really say is thank you for allowing us the honor to stand in respect of your loved one. He will not be forgotten by any of us. His service and your sacrifices have not gone unnoticed by America. |
