In case you don't know Sarge, I am posting an exerpt from an e-mail I received today. I hope it's okay, Pops, that I post your words. This is an introduction to a great man, and I hope many will read it.

In the words of Pops -

"A little background on Sarge.

He was the founder of The Widowmakers and past President of ABATE Local 40. He spent years working with the MMA putting on events throughout the central valley and coast. His dedication to the motorcycle community was only paled by his passion for riding. Last year he successfully promoted and produced ABATE's state run.

This past year, he resigned as President of Local 40, sold the family home and retired to Hawaii to build their dream home, complete with guest house for all of his "brothers and sisters" when they came to visit. Sadly, he had just removed the forms from the newly poured foundation when he took his last ride.
I am proud to have known him and called him "brother".

Pops"

-----------------------------------------------

Additional information on the services has been furnished: Sarge's wish was to be cremated so his ashes will be interred at the Hill of Valor at a later date. Also some of his ashes will be reserved to be taken to the coast and scattered there at a later date.

In lieu of flowers please make a donation in WidowMaker Sarge's name to ABATE of CA general fund.

Cheryl

I would love to attend when I can, I think what you all do is awesome... Which is why when I heard about your organization I instantly became a member. Can anyone tell me if people take vehicles other than motorcycles to the missions. I don't ride so any information would be awesome. Or if anyone knows of anyone looking to take a passenger with them on the California missions. If not if its ok I can always drive my car seperate.

You Need not RIDE! You don't have to ride a motorcycle to be a member or to attend a Mission, All you have to be is a Patriot!!! We don't care how you get there Motorcycle, Car, truck, van, bus, bicycle, walk or ride with someone else hell you can even drive a FORD if you want to.
If you don't have a ride post a note and someone will pick you up if they can.

Bring a helmet as I'm sure some one would be willing to give you a ride! If you don't have one then wait until you see if this is something for you. What we do is NOT for everyone....... It is and can be very emotional....

Thank you

I am fully aware that this is not for everyone and I can only imagine how emotional it will be. But... at the same time these families deserve alll the support they can get and that they are given and I could only pray that if I were in their situation I would have an organization such as this one on my side!!! As I said in my previous post, I think it is amazing what all of you do and there is no other organization I could ever be prouder to be a part of!!!

I will keep myself posted on the local missions... :0)

Take care,

Julia

Sarge was a friend and supporter of ABATE Local 58, and several of our members are also members of the PGR. We're planning on riding over to show our thanks and respect for our fallen brother, but the info we recieved was that all riders who want to escort the funeral had to be at Basham Mortuary by 1:00.

Julia, I'm down the rode from you in Riverside just off the 91 freeway. I have an awesome ride that seats three! If you ever want to join me on a mission, just say the word and I'll pick you up somewhere. Get yourself a helmet and you're ready to ride.

My thoughts, prayers and the upmost respect for this fallen hero. Thank you.

Hi I am Eric Janson, the central California coordinator for the PGR and north Kern County ride captain. In my discussions with the Basham funeral home we agreed to have the PGR meet in the designated staging area and ride to the funeral home as a group. John Basham has another funeral going on and requested we park in the west lot. If you can make it to the staging area in time that would be best, if not go directly to the funeral home but please park in the west lot so the noise from the bikes do not interfere with the other services. The staging area is very close to the funeral home. Please try to meet us at the Benz Chevron 4908 E Brundage Ln, Bakersfield, CA 93307 between 12:30 to 1:15pm, we will depart KSU at 1:15 and arrive as a group at the basham funeral home.

Hi Just wanted to say it was an honor to take part in Sarge's services yesterday. We did not know him really well, but sounds like the kind of guy we would have liked to known better. I hope we can all fill his big-ass shoes. I have some really awesome pics I would like the family to have, but I can't figure out how to post them here. If someone can send me and E-mail or snailmail address to my e-mail address, I will be happy to pass them along. Our sincere condolences to Sarge's "family" which is obvious includes all riders. Sounds like a very special man touched many. What a testimony to him, that so many came to honor him.

Jerry, you were the man this weekend! You are a dedicated and invaluable PGR member. Thank you for helping Tony out. Great job on what I know must have been a difficult mission for you both.

We gathered on May 5th to pay our respects to Glenn "Sarge" League and his family.  I was amazed at the turn out for this one, not by just the 40 some riders who showed up as part of the patriot guard, but by the 60 or more biker friends of Glenn who were at the funeral home when the PGR rode in as a group.  Unlike my first mission in Bakersfield a couple of months ago where there were 2 local riders, there were 30 kern county riders on this one.   I would have liked to see more flags but the turn out in numbers made up for the lack of flags.

Glenn’s brothers from the Widowmakers MC rode point in the procession with the PGR following as we escorted the hearse and family Limo from the Basham funeral home to the Hill of Valor at laceName>HillcrestlaceName> laceType>Memorial parklaceType>.  Glen was a very active biker who had touched the lives of so many people.  This was evidenced by the testimonials given at his services on the hill of valor, and the number of different motorcycle groups proudly wearing their colors as they came to honor their friend and hero.

For those of you who attended this PGR mission as your first Mission with the PGR,  I would like to emphasize the importance of bringing American flags to PGR Missions, preferably 3’ X 5’ flags on poles.  I would also like to thank Jerry Zimmerman who helped me by making sure every PGR rider got on the attendance list.  Jerry has also been on every Bakersfield PGR Mission even though he lives in the San Fernando Valley area of Los Angeles.  Thanks also to all who attended this mission, if I could make out all of your names on the attendance list I’d list you all on this report.  In the future I’ll know to ask that names be printed.

God blessed the world with Glenn "Sarge" League, a true biker and American hero, and his friends and the PGR showed up to honor him.
