Harrington, Maine – Wreaths Across America coming to Nashville, TN on December 15, 2007.

The Patriot Guard Riders of Tennessee has volunteered to conduct the WAA ceremony this year at the Nashville National Cemetery on Gallatin Pike in Madison on December 15, 2007 stating at 11:00 am CST where seven ceremonial wreaths will be placed to remember those who gave their lives in service for our country. Specially made wreaths for Army, Marines, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard, Merchant Marines and POW/MIA will be placed on memorials during a ceremony on this date.

December 15 will mark the 16th anniversary of Maine wreaths being donated to decorate the graves at Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, VA, and the second year of a national campaign dubbed Wreaths Across America that will bring the same remembrance wreaths to over 230 National and State Veterans cemeteries and monuments across the nation.

All of these specially made wreaths are donated by Worcester Wreath Company in Harrington, Maine. The full story can be seen and heard on line at the below Wreaths Across America Website

In addition to these ceremonial wreaths U.S. Civil Air Patrol has joined with Wreaths Across America to promote sponsored wreaths from the general public that also will be laid on Veterans graves across the country.

Participating in the ceremonies this year will be the American Legion Riders from Post 82, 88 and 13, Rolling Thunder Chapter 1, VFW, DAV, CAP of Hendersonville, JROTC from local High Schools in Davidson, Williamson, Rutherford, Sumner, and Wilson Counties, the Boy Scouts of American and the Girl Scouts of America.  There will be guest speakers present also.  Military representatives will be present to lay the wreath for each branch of service, also a former POW will be present at each location to lay the POW/MIA wreath.

Mission Complete at Nashville National Cemetery!

Though our weather was cold and threatened rains, the rains held off until our ceremony was completed.

We had a wonderful turn out, JROTC from Franklin High School and Beech High School, under the direction of CAP from Hendersonville did our Color Guard and assisted in laying our wreaths at the end of the ceremony, just before our closing.

We had both active duty military, retired military and a former WWII POW assist with our ceremonial wreaths.

After our moment of silence, Robin sang our National Anthem, which was just amazing…...Our ceremony seemed to flow with ease, all participants placed and saluted the wreath of each branch of service, our bagpiper played beautifully…...

The winds had our Flags blowing, and even though there was no sunshine, it was glorious.

Our young JROTC members laid their wreaths at each grave, stood back and saluted, and you could see by the look that it meant a lot to them to be able to participate in such an important role!

We ended by retiring the Colors and the playing of Taps.

Although I did not see it, I have had several calls advising there was a good story on the 5 O’clock news covering the ceremony.

Many, many thanks to the Worcester’s, Marcy, Wayne, Dennis, Tobin and everyone else who make this possible.

We are all looking forward to 2008!
