Though our weather was cold and threatened rains, the rains held off until our ceremony was completed.
We had a wonderful turn out, JROTC from Franklin High School and Beech High School, under the direction of CAP from Hendersonville did our Color Guard and assisted in laying our wreaths at the end of the ceremony, just before our closing.
We had both active duty military, retired military and a former WWII POW assist with our ceremonial wreaths.
After our moment of silence, Robin sang our National Anthem, which was just amazing…...Our ceremony seemed to flow with ease, all participants placed and saluted the wreath of each branch of service, our bagpiper played beautifully…...
The winds had our Flags blowing, and even though there was no sunshine, it was glorious.
Our young JROTC members laid their wreaths at each grave, stood back and saluted, and you could see by the look that it meant a lot to them to be able to participate in such an important role!
We ended by retiring the Colors and the playing of Taps.
Although I did not see it, I have had several calls advising there was a good story on the 5 O’clock news covering the ceremony.
Many, many thanks to the Worcester’s, Marcy, Wayne, Dennis, Tobin and everyone else who make this possible.
We are all looking forward to 2008!
