The Louisville VA Medical Center is honored to have Sgt. Bryan Anderson, speaking this Thursday, 29 Nov 2007, at 1130. The link above will give you some background on this outstanding individual, and true American hero, we are all so proud of. It will be a casual event, and all are welcome to attend and show support. I am going and taking some of our Officers with me (former military). We are all so grateful for the opportunity to see him. I hear he is just the best, and has such an upbeat attitude.
The VA said they did not need anything, except for supporters to attend. They will have refreshments for all. I offered to bring/pay for what they wanted, and they said they were fine. Due to the space, a flag line is not possible, but we could sure stand around that room! It will probably last between an hour and 2 hours, with staff coming in and out due to schedules/short lunch time, etc. Can you please invite everyone to come, even to stop in? Thank you for all you do, Sherri

I met a most positive man yesterday.
I had the honor to meet Sgt. Bryan Anderson yesterday when he was guest speaker at the VA medical center in Louisville KY.
He could serve as an inspiration to us all, he doesn't let anything hold him back from living life and doing things he wants to do.
In the spirit of that attitude I presented him with 2 books signed by the author, Riding the Edge and Riding the ICE by Dave Barr.
His solo motorcycle journey took three and a half years to complete and spanned six continents and 83,000 miles. What makes it truly remarkable is that Dave made the trip on a 1972 Harley-Davidson® motorcycle with two prosthetic legs, the result of an 1981 land mine explosion. He pushed his way through the Sahara, Namibia, and Gobi deserts, slipped through the Andes during avalanche season and braved the unique challenges of riding across China, Russia, Australia, and Africa.
Dave later went on to establish a Guinness Book World Record for crossing northern Europe, Russia and Siberia on a 1996 Harley Sportster in the dead of winter.
Dave’s most recent adventure earned him a second Guinness World Record. This time he went to Australia on his “Southern Cross” journey. In just 45 days, he completed the first motorcycle journey ever between the four extreme geographical corners of the Australian continent.
I think these two fellows have a lot in common and can serve as an example to the rest of us.
"Commitment to one's vision and unceasing persistence always bring success." - Dave Barr
This doesn't define me. It may be how I look on the outside, but it's not who I am. I guess you could remember me easily as being a triple amputee, but it's not who I am, has nothing to do with who I am. - Bryan Anderson
Bryan told me he enjoyed the freezing sidecar ride provided by the Illinois Patriot Guard at his homecoming. I think "awesome" was the term used. |

Ezekiel 25:17: The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he who, in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the Valley of Darkness; for he is truly his brother's keeper, and the finder of lost children. |

| Like NavyGunner, I was also humbled by this dear Soldier, Sgt. Bryan Anderson. He was certainly an inspiration to all of us, and I feel honored to have met him. I cried and laughed so much, my face hurt. He truly is an excellent speaker. It was a wonderful experience for all of us in the room. God Bless him and how Special he truly is. |
