I am currently scheduled to work this day, however, since it appears to be in San Antonio, I will talk with my supervisor to see if I could have a 1/2 day or maybe even get the day. No Guarentee, but I will try. Nurse |

Other committments that day. The time constraints along with the distance make it impossible for me to attend.

I'll be amking this ride from the Killeen/Fort Hood area unless somethig drastic happens at work between now and Friday. As soon as San Antonio has a staging time and place, I'll post info for the Centex PGR.
My sincere condolences go out to the friends and family of Cpl Jason Daniel. He was stationed with the 4th ID at Fort Hood, Texas prior to his deploymeny. My heart goes out to everyone who feels his loss. |

Heads up we have a mission in San Antonio Texas
Anyone wanting to go down to San Antonio for this fallen hero contact me direct so I can see how many are going from the DFW area. I will be setting up staging points as needed. Departure time from Red Oak Texas will be about 3am depending on San Antonio staging times and locations.

FYI Here are the minimum DoD requirements for riding on a Federal Installation: Must have current insurance, photo ID and registration for your motorcycle with you. These items may not be needed unless we are required to get guest passes for Fort Sam Houston. Must wear eye protection in the form of a face shield or goggles (sunglasses do not suffice), Must wear over-the-ankle boots, must wear long pants, must wear a long-sleeved shirt or jacket, must wear a reflective vest (during daylight hour a bright colored shirt or jacket may replace the reflective vest, must wear a DOT approved helmet and must wear full-fingered gloves. The assigned Ride Captain is coordinatiing with Fort Sam to ascertain what requirements if any can be waived for PGR who attend the funeral. In the mean time, start planning your wardrobe for this mission as if all requirements apply. |

| Scout06 IS correct in the wear requirements for ON base riding. The Cemetary is outside the post proper. Unless the service is at an onbase chapel OR as the cemetary is expanding, I have heard that some of it is inside the gate.... So far, the missions have not been "inside the wire". Further confirmation will be needed to ensure this info. Good luck! |

PGR, This is the first of several threads. This one is logistically a little different than our previous missions. The service is scheduled for 1000hrs at the AMEDD Chapel on Ft. Sam, internment is to follow at 1130hrs at the Ft Sam National Cemetery. I have a meeting with the Post Provost Marshall tomorrow to work out arrangement for access to the post. This is a good time to start thinking about helmets, full fingered gloves, long sleeve shirts, boots and reflective vest. In the past we haven't needed these items but as we work more and more of these missions the requirement will eventually come up. Ride Captains as you start your backward planning my suggestion is to be in the San Antonio area by 0800 hrs. Our staging area will be off Harry Wurzbach just north of Ft. Sam Cemetery. We may be asked to escort Jason from the funeral home to the Chapel. I have two backup plans if for some reason we are unable to gain access to Ft. Sam. Bill and I will recon the area after our meeting on Post and provide further details.

| The mission for Cpl Jason Daniel is on post at the post chapel. Internment is at the National Cemetary. DoD ride requirements might be suspended for PGR, but as of right now, those minimum requirements apply. Be ready! If you wait to get the needed gear and the requirements are not waived by the Provost Marshal, you will not be allowed to enter Fort Sam. Plan for the hard requirements and be happy if the requirements are reduced! |
