The town will all be out for this one. I've talked to the local LEO rep and he said that everyone is invited, which also means we will not have a special consideration on this Mission. If anyone can step up and find a meeting place for PGR it would be fantastic. Then the PGR could attend the funeral as all the local townspeople will attend. No formal invite personally from the family as they are not taking calls but again as the local LEO stated everybody is invited as are all citizens. So, has the family invited us - not formally but an invitation has been extended to any and all citizens. Sorry everybody but we had very little lead time on this and it is actually not the IN PGR style to not be organized but at present this is probably as good as it is going to get on this Mission. If someone from the area can step up and find a meeting place that would be fantastic - then just ride to the funeral home as a group.

As IndyHarley had stated, this is an "unofficial" confirmed mission - as we will be able to extend our respect and honor for this Fallen Hero as citizens of the community. As anyone who knows the story knows, Cpl. Severns is a true hero in every aspect of the term. I, for one, and Damn Proud of the way he handled himself in the face of danger - protecting others till the very end. I have obtained permission from Chris Moore, owner of Freedom Cycle in South Bend, to stage in his parking lot on Thursday, Apr. 27th. (www.freedommc.com). His shop is located at 60958 US 31 S. in South Bend, In. 46614 (just south of the US 20 bypass). We should all be there by 1730 hrs. and plan to leave there at 1800 hrs. to go to the viewing and pay our respects. We will ride together as a group to Bethel College for the viewing, pay our respects, and that's all. I would like to know approx. how many will plan to be there, if possible. Please e-mail me and let me know, or let me know through this site. Thank you, and ride safe!

Sorry I missed this one. Work schedule just wouldn't permit it. I was at at the post when the other guys were all dressed iin thier class A's and heading to the funeral. All of us wanted to go but some of us had to stay and hold down the fort. Speaking for myself and some of the other law enforcement guys, just being there and showing your respect is all that matters, not on how you are dressed. At that moment in time YOU were one of us.

Everyone met up at Freedom Cycle just south of South Bend. We had a brief rider’s meeting, and approximately 15 bikes headed for Bethel College where the viewing for Cpl. Scott Severns was being conducted. The parking personnel were notified earlier that we were coming, so they had arranged parking for us. We then met up with other members of Rolling Thunder and Remembrance Riders who were already there. We slowly made our way inside to pay our respects (the line was about 1 ½ hrs. long). We went in as a group, rendered a solemn salute to our Hero then made our way outside. Upon leaving, one of the ladies from the college stopped me with tears in her eyes and thanked us for coming. We looked a little out of place with our biker attire while most everyone else either had on a police uniform or dress clothes. She said she (along with many others) got goosebumps and swelled with pride when we all rode in together. She thanked us for coming to honor this brave man. Several other police officers came up to us while we were in line to thank us as well. We told them we should be thanking them. They put their lives on the line everyday for us and too many take them for granted. May God bless each and every police officer everywhere as well as our military personnel.

Rest in peace, Cpl. Scott Severns. A True American Hero.
