***************MISSION INFORMATION FOR SATURDAY*************

   Back home from visitation services and, although short on numbers, our presense was greatly appreciated by Jason's family, friends and members of the community.

   Those planning to attend tomorrow's services, be advised we will be traveling approximately 20 miles from the funeral home to Center Point Cemetery, the final 10 miles of which are on SR 23, a very narrow, windy road.  We are attempting to confirm police escort along the route.  The road into the cemetery is paved, although a fairly steep grade of approximately 150 yards.  We will NOT be riding into the cemetery but, rather, parking alongside the church and walking a short distance to the grave site.  Kickstand plates WILL be required.

   At the request of the family, we will be leading the procession, directly behind the local Fire Department.  Thus, we will be controlling the speed.  Those wishing to fly flags on their bikes, please ensure both the flags and their mounts are able to withstand speeds up to 45 MPH.  That should be the maximum speed we reach upon initially departing the funeral home.  Speeds on SR 23 will NOT reach that limit.

   I am sincerely requesting as many riders as possible for this Mission of Honor.  This entire family has expressed nothing but high praise for the PGR during the first two portions of this mission and we'd like nothing more than to show them just how much Honor and Respect we pay to our Fallen.

   Remember, WEST VIRGINIA IS A HELMET STATE.
Respects,
Joe

**********MISSION UPDATE**********STAGING LOCATION

Staging for the visitaton and the funeral services will take place at the parking lot for the Doddridge County High School football field,located on the outskirts of West Union.

Coming west on Rt. 50, from Clarksburg, turn right on Rt. 18 toward West Union. Coming east, from Parkersburg, turn left. I THINK there is a flashing caution light at the intersection. Once you turn onto Rt. 18, the football field is on your right.

Staging times have not changed.

Again, I will not be able to attend on Friday, but Joe and Bob (Treygoose) will coordinate at the staging area and the funeral home. I will be scouting the cemetary and the funeral home tomorrow, and working with the funeral director to determine best parking locations. I will post more about that tomorrow evening.

Thank you for your support.

**********MISSION UPDATE**********

Times have now been set for the services for Spec. Marchand. Our participation will be as follows:

-Staging for escort from Benedum Airport (Clarksburg) 12:00 NOON at Walmart, exit 117 off of I-79. Kickstands up to ride to the airport at 12:30 sharp. Arrival of Spec. Marchand at the airport is expected to be 1330 hrs. Escort will be on a four lane highway to West Union, at normal highway speeds. Keep this in mind when mounting flags.

-Staging for flag line / honor guard will be at 1530 hrs. in West Union. THE LOCATION OF THE STAGING AREA WILL BE VERIFIED ON WEDNESDAY. We will ride to the Sturgeon Funeral Home at 1600 hrs. to form an honor guard until 1900 hrs. (Actual visitation times are from 1300 to 2000 hrs. However, this is too long to stand for the flag line).

-Staging for the Saturday services will take place at 1030 hrs. on Saturday morning. We will ride to the funeral home at 1130 hrs. Funeral services will take place at 1300 hrs.

-We will LEAD the funeral processing to the Center Point Cemetary, where we will again form our normal flag line for the burial service.

I will be traveling to West Union on Thursday to get a view of the cemetary and route, so that we will be prepared for any issues. Again, I will post a definite staging area (with directions) tomorrow as soon as I get confirmed permission.

Also, West Union is a small town. It has only a few mom and pop restaurants, and no motels. The closest food is in Clarksburg, if coming from the east, or Parkersburg if coming from the west. Likewise with motels if anyone plans on spending the night.

Lets hope for a good turnout for this Saturday mission, to honor Spec. Marchand and his family.

Ride safe, stay free.

***************CONFIRMED MISSION INFORMATION**************

Spec. Jason Marchand will be returning from Dover, DE to the Clarksburg Airport on Thursday, October, 11 at 1:30 PM. PGR will provide escort from the airport to the Spurgeon Funeral Home in West Union, WV.

Staging for this phase of the mission will be at the WalMart parking lot, which is just off of exit 117 of I-79, in Clarksburg, WV. Coming from the south, get off at exit 117, then proceed straight through the light, and up the hill. WalMart is on your right. Coming from the north, get off of I-79 at exit 117, turn left, then left again at the next light. WE WILL STAGE AT 12:00 PM, with KICKSTANDS UP AT 12:30 PM to travel to the airport.

There are a ton of restaurants in the immediate area, if you want to plan around lunch.

West Union is about a 30 minute ride from the airport, on Rt. 50, which is a four lane highway. Keep this in mind as you decide about flag mounting, as we will be traveling at around 65 MPH.

If you want to find West Union on the map, it is on Rt. 50, between Clarksburg and Parkersburg.

As of now, there are no times set for the visitation and funeral services. I will post these, along with staging times and info as soon as I have the information.

 ********** CONFIRMED MISSION **********

The mission for Spec. Jason Marchand is now a CONFIRMED MISSION.  I spoke with SFC John Oliverio at 10:30 this morning and he confirmed that the family welcomes PGR participation.  Following are the details that are known:

Spec Marchand will arrive at the Clarksburg airport sometime on Thursday, time as yet unconfirmed.  He will travel by ground to the Spurgeon Funeral Home, in West Union, WV.  The tentative plans for services are for viewing to be on Friday, funeral and burial on Saturday.

If anyone is available, we will provide escort from the airport to the funeral home on Thursday.  I will post arrival times as soon as I know.  We will obviously provide a flag line during visitation, and honor guard and escort for the funeral on Saturday.  Again, I will post times, as well as staging areas, directions etc. as soon as I have more information.

The funeral  home is VERY easy to find.  It us just off of Rt. 50 in West Union.  I do not know the location of the cemetary yet.

Anyone who is available for the Thursday escort, please start making plans.

Thank you.

********************PENDING MISSION INFORMATION*********************

I have updated information on Spec. Jason Marchand. Currently Spec. Marchand is at Dover, awaiting a flight to the Clarksburg airport. I do not know as yet when this will happen. I am hoping to get information on this as soon as possible, so that we may arrange a hasty escort from the airport to the Spurgeon Funeral Home in West Union. I will post as more becomes available.

I have made contact with the funeral home, and asked them to talk to the family about PGR, who we are and what we do, and of course obviously to offer our services. I will update as soon as I know something.

Keep the family of Spec. Marchand in your prayers, as this is obviously a very difficult time for them. It will also be hard on the community, as he is from a small town and a small school. I'm sure he was well known in the area.

Should this become a confirmed mission, I will be the RC. Feel free to contact me with any questions, comments or concerns.

Our sincere condolences to the family and friends of  Spc. Jason N. Marchand. May God help you though this difficult time and sorrow. Know your son was and is a Hero to us all. Our thoughts and prayers are with you always. He will never be forgotten.

Rest Safely and Securely in God's Loving Arms, Jason.

Going home, going home,
I'm just going home.
Quiet-like, slip away-
I'll be going home.
It's not far, just close by;
Jesus is the Door;
Work all done, laid aside,
Fear and grief no more.
Friends are there, waiting now.
He is waiting, too.
See His smile! See His hand!
He will lead me through.

Morning Star lights the way;
Restless dream all done;
Shadows gone, break of day,
Life has just begun.
Every tear wiped away,
Pain and sickness gone;
Wide awake there with Him!
Peace goes on and on!
Going home, going home,
I'll be going home.
See the Light! See the Sun!
I'm just going home.
