*******************CONFIRMED ITINERARY********************
We have confirmed our itinerary for the services honoring SSgt Reynolds.
As announced in my previous posting, we WILL participate in escorting SSgt Reynolds from Bluefield Raleigh County Memorial Airport to the funeral home in Princeton. Anyone able to assist, please arrive at the terminal NLT 1100 tomorrow (Saturday).
We will stage on Sunday at 1100 at Kroger, 1217 Stafford Drive (Route 104), Princeton, WV 24740. This is located at Exit 10 off I-77 (Route 460W) then taking the first exit to downtown Princeton (Route 104). Directions can be found at: http://tinyurl.com/27w5pf.
Our pre-ride briefing will be at 1130 with KSU at 1145 for the short trip to Bailey-Kirk Funeral Home. We will have our flag line in place by 1200 and maintain this during the public calling hours of 1300-1530.
We will, in all probability, depart the funeral home by 1500 to proceed to the cemetery. A decision will be made at that time whether to proceed into the cemetery or set up a flag line at the entrance. Due to the location and layout of the cemetery, please ensure you have a kickstand plate. If the decision is made to not go into the cemetery, we will break our line after the procession has passed.
You can view SSgt Reynolds' obituary and offer on-line condolences at: http://www.bailey-kirk.com/obituaries.php.
Current weather forecast for the Princeton area for Sunday is temperatures in the mid-80's with a 50% chance of showers/thundershowers. Please dress/plan accordingly. As we will have a flag line lasting at least 3 hours, please be sure to remain hydrated.
Thank you for your support of this American Hero and his family. Respects, Joe

**********SHORT NOTICE UPDATE - REPLIES NEEDED!*******
We have learned from the West Virginia CAO, Sgt Scarborough, that SSgt Reynolds will be returning to West Virginia tomorrow (Saturday) at Beckley Raleigh County Memorial Airport, 176 Airport Circle #115, Beaver, WV 25813 (304) 255-0476 (http://tinyurl.com/yrc3ml), at 1120 via Kalitta Airlines.
Sgt Scarborough has indicated he has received permission for Patriot Guard Riders to enter the tarmac and provide escort from the airport to the Bailey-Kirk Funeral Home, 1612 Honaker Ave., Princeton, WV 24740, (304) 425-8176, (http://tinyurl.com/225823), a distance of approximately 25-30 miles.
IF we can get confirmation from PGR members of their willingness to participate in this escort, we will meet Sgt Scarborough at the airport terminal at 1100 on Saturday, 25 August. Please, if you are able and willing to participate, make a posting here or e-mail our RC, Jack Kalmar (jrkalmar@verizon.net) or me (wva@patriotguard.org) confirming those intentions. Please do this ASAP so we may let Sgt Scarborough know our plans.
Although not yet confirmed, early indications are the family is requesting a private, family only service at Bailey-Kirk Funeral Home from 1000-1130 Sunday, 26 August. They are then hoping to have a public memorial service from 1300-1500 at a different location to accomodate the anticipated large number of mourners. IF these plans are finalized later today, we will NOT stand for the private service unless the family specifically requests our presense. We will, instead, meet around 1130 at the new location and stand in Honor and Respect during the public ceremony.
Please continue monitoring this thread as the information should be finalized later this afternoon.
AGAIN, IF YOU'RE ABLE TO PARTICIPATE IN TOMORROW'S ESCORT, LET US KNOW ASAP!
Thank you for your support. Respects, Joe |
|
***************DATE OF SERVICES SET***************
Please forgive the lack of information on this mission but we have been awaiting word from the CAO on dates.
I received a call from Sgt Sanders, Alaska CAO, indicating services for SSgt Reynolds will be held on SUNDAY, 26 AUGUST 2007. Mrs. Reynolds will be arriving in West Virginia tomorrow (Friday) around 1100 and meeting with the Funeral Director to finalize times/plans. At this time we cannot announce a staging time but hope to have all itinerary information by sometime tomorrow afternoon.
Indications are there may be a private memorial service for family members, followed by a public visitation period. Should this be the final plans, we will maintain our flag line through most of the visitation period, breaking away beforehand to proceed to the cemetery (Shutt-Shrewsbury Cemetery, Lashmeet, WV). We will NOT be entering the cemetery due to hazardous road conditions for those on two wheels. We will, instead, set up a flag line outside the entrance for the procession to pass through, after which we will be dismissed.
Thank you, all, for your patience and understanding while we've been trying to obtain information. Please continue monitoring this thread and attend the services if at all possible. Respects, Joe

*************THIS IS NOW A CONFIRMED MISSION******************
Conversation with Alaska CAO, Sgt Sanders, indicates Patriot Guard Riders participation in SSgt Reynolds services is welcomed by the family.
Date and time of services is unknown at this time. SSgt Reynolds has been returned to Dover AFB but his arrival back home has yet to be determined. Early indications are it COULD be later in the week.
The extent of our participation in the memorial services is unknown, other than the day of the funeral.
It has been learned the cemetery is approximately 15-20 miles from Bailey-Kirk Funeral Home in Princeton and is NOT easily accessible. Funeral director indicates this is a "country cemetery" with NO paved ingress/egress. The RC for this mission, Jack Kalmar, will be scouting the area early in the week to make the best, safest, determination as to how far in we will proceed.
I have also been informed that this is anticipated to be a "huge" service, with attendance by many state and local dignitaries. As much PGR participation as possible is requested.
Please continue watching this thread for updates. Thank you for your support.
Respects, Joe

When a mans heart is full of deceit it burns up, dies and a dark shadow falls over his soul. From the ashes of a once great man has risen a curse, a wrong that must be righted. We look to the skies for a vindicator, someone to strike fear into the black hearts of the same men who created him. The battle between good and evil has begun. Against an army of shadows comes the Dark Warrior, the purveyor of good, with a voice of silence and a mission of justice. - Steve "Sting" Borden

Our sincere condolences to the family and friends of SSgt. Stanley B. Reynolds. May God help you though this difficult time and sorrow. Know your son was and is a Hero to us all. Our thoughts and prayers are with you always. He will never be forgotten.
Rest Safely and Securely in God's Loving Arms, Stanley.
Going home, going home, I'm just going home. Quiet-like, slip away- I'll be going home. It's not far, just close by; Jesus is the Door; Work all done, laid aside, Fear and grief no more. Friends are there, waiting now. He is waiting, too. See His smile! See His hand! He will lead me through.
Morning Star lights the way; Restless dream all done; Shadows gone, break of day, Life has just begun. Every tear wiped away, Pain and sickness gone; Wide awake there with Him! Peace goes on and on! Going home, going home, I'll be going home. See the Light! See the Sun! I'm just going home.

From WCHS-TV in Charleston, WV: http://www.wchstv.com/newsroom/wv/news9.shtml.
Still awaiting contact from Ft. Knox on the CAO assigned to SSgt Reynolds. Did make contact with Bailey-Kirk Funeral Home in Princeton, WV regarding report of their handling arrangements. They have yet to have contact with the family but, if/when that occurs, they will relay our offer to stand for SSgt Reynolds and get back in touch with me.
If this becomes confirmed, Jack Kalmar of Mt. Lookout, WV will be the Temporary Assigned Ride Captain with assistance from Bob (Treygoose) Smith, PRC from Culloden, WV.
As SSgt Reynolds is scheduled to arrive at Dover AFB today, this could be a very fast moving/short notice mission if it becomes confirmed. Please continue tracking for updates.
Thank you for your support. Respects, Joe |

| SSGT Reynolds knowing you died for ALL Americans makes you a patriot. Not knowing you personally makes it difficult for me because of your age; I retired from the service when I was 37 more than 3 decades ago. I thought I was old then, now of course I know how young I was and you were. A tear runs down my cheek as I write because I now know you were just a young man with dreams and aspirations for the future unfullfilled. Please R.I.P. young man the nation owes you a major debt. My condolences to your family and friends for their loss. |
