This is the Final Itinerary for the two part Confirmed mission for the Patriot Guard to honor SGT Donald C. Trent, USA, Crab Orchard, WV, who was reported MIA in Korea on November 27, 1950. It is a go, all contacts have been made.
Part I.
A viewing a Murphy Funeral Home has been scheduled for Monday, 08OCT07 from 1800 - 2000 hrs. A 3 x 5 Flag Corridor will be set and a PGR Plaque Presentation will occur prior to the viewing.
Staging at Murphy Funeral Home, 4510 Wilson Blvd, Arlington, VA 22203 at 1715 hrs on 08 OCT 07
Briefing at 1725 hrs
Presentation at approximately 1745 hrs.
Part II.
Services at the Fort Meyer Old Post Chapel will be held at approximately 1030 hrs on 09 OCT 07 and interment at Arlington National Cemetery at approximately 1100 hrs. A Flag Corridor will be presented at the Old Post Chapel.
Staging at Iwo Jima Marine Corps Memorial at 0940 hrs
Briefing at 0950 hrs
Departure to Fort Meyer at 1000 hrs
3 x 5 Flags will be required for the Flag Corridor at the Fort Meyer Old Post Chapel.
Dress and gear requirements for DOD apply
Full finger gloves, long sleeve shirt or jacket, reflective vest or belt, (bright colored shirt/jacket) , over the ankle boots, helmet, Photo ID
Special Requirements for ANC

Soldiers Missing in Action from the Korean War are Identified
The Department of Defense POW/Missing Personnel Office (DPMO) announced today that the remains of three U.S. servicemen, missing in action from the Korean War, have been identified and will be returned to their families for burial with full military honors.
They are Sgt. Donald C. Trent, of Crab Orchard, W. Va.; Cpl. Robert K. Imrie, of Randolph, Mass.; and Cpl. Samuel Wirrick of Lancaster, Pa.; all U.S. Army. Imrie will be buried Monday at Arlington National Cemetery near Washington, D.C.; and Trent and Wirrick will be buried at Arlington in October.
Representatives from the Army met with the next-of-kin of these men in their hometowns to explain the recovery and identification process and to coordinate interment with military honors on behalf of the Secretary of the Army.
In late November 1950, these soldiers were members of the 2nd Battalion, 38th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Infantry Division, then operating south of the Chongchon River in North Korea. Their regiment's positions came under heavy attack by Chinese forces and the 2nd Battalion was forced to withdraw to positions near the town of Kujang. On Nov. 27, Imrie was killed in action, and Trent and Wirrick were reported missing.
In 2000, a joint U.S.-Democratic People's Republic of Korea-Korean People's Army team, led by the Joint POW/MIA Accounting Command (JPAC), excavated a mass burial believed to contain the remains of U.S. soldiers who died near Kujang. The team found human remains, Wirrick's identification tag and other material evidence associated with U.S. Army infantry equipment.
Among other forensic identification tools and circumstantial evidence, scientists from JPAC and the Armed Forces DNA Identification Laboratory also used mitochondrial DNA and dental comparisons in the identification of the remains.

The Charleston Gazette has a nice story about Sgt Trent. The reporter wrote my brother's story several months ago.
I know Sgt Trents sister will be at peace now knowing her beloved brother is home at last.
He is a hero. He is forever young.

She has agreed to pass along my contact information and my offer of Patriot Guard Riders support should there be a memorial service for Donald in West Virginia.

Was contacted by Sgt. Trent's sister, Harriet Trent Durran, through a third party indicating she'd love PGR participation in his interment services at Arlington. She has indicated burial will take place October 9, 2007 at 1100.
Wrote her inquiring as to whether there would be services also held in West Virginia and offering PGR participation if they were intended. Will let all know the response when it is received.

Received a reply from Harriet Trent Duran advising PGR participation in Donald's interment services would be most welcomed. Although she would love to have a memorial service in West Virginia, the health of some members of the family dictates this would not be feasible.
As stated in my above posting, services are scheduled for 1100, October 9, 2007, although she advises the family has been told to be at the "chapel" by 1030.
Any further information will be passed on as it is received. All info received, to date, has been sent on to our team handling missions in ANC. One of them will be posting mission information as they know it.
