******************ITINERARY INFORMATION******************

We will "muster" in the parking lot of the China Restaurant, directly across the street from the Ellyson Mortuary at 1015 on Saturday and be in our flag line prior to start of visitation at 1100.

We will maintain our flag line throughout calling hours, until commencement of services at 1400, after which we will break until conclusion of services, re-establishing our flag line as Capt. Adams'  is being prepared for journey to his final rest in Troy IOOF Cemetery, approximately 10 miles from the Mortuary.

Weather forecast for Saturday for the Glenville area is for sunny skies with temperatures in mid-70's.  Please dress accordingly and, if possible, bring fluids to keep yourself hydrated during the long visitation vigil.  There is a pharmacy located beside the China Restaurant where fluids could, no doubt, be purchased.

I understand, fully, that many members have already committed to attend the Send-Off Mission(s) being held in Summersville and Spencer, WV for the 821st EC and would not try to have a stand down for either of these very important missions.  I would, however, ask all members who deemed themselves unable to attend those missions to give serious thought to standing for Capt. Adams and his family.  I know this is taking place in a fairly remote portion of West Virginia but this family deserves to be made aware that Michael's service to our country has not gone unnoticed.

Thank you for all you do.
Respects,
Joe

==============================

When a mans heart is full of deceit it burns up, dies and a dark shadow falls over his soul. From the ashes of a once great man has risen a curse, a wrong that must be righted. We look to the skies for a vindicator, someone to strike fear into the black hearts of the same men who created him. The battle between good and evil has begun. Against an army of shadows comes the Dark Warrior, the purveyor of good, with a voice of silence and a mission of justice. - Steve "Sting" Borden

Friends are there, waiting now.
He is waiting, too.
See His smile! See His hand!
He will lead me through.

A Soldier's Prayer
(author unknown)

Do not stand at my grave and weep
I am not there; I do not sleep.

I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond glints on snow,
I am the sun on ripened grain,
I am the gentle autumn rain.

When you awaken in the morning's hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.

Do not stand at my grave and cry,
I am not there; I did not die.

*****************MISSION REPORT****************

A chilly start to a beautiful day in a somewhat remote area of Central West Virginia.  Odd to refer to Glenville as being 'remote' as it is a college town but not the most easily accessible one, to be certain.

Although relatively small in numbers, those in attendance would soon learn how the area felt about Capt. Adams as folks turned out in droves to pay their respects during visitation and services.  The parking lots of the China I Restaurant and Gil-Co Pharmacy were soon filled to overflow.  In addition, just prior to commencement of services at 1400, a contingent of riders that had to number in excess of 100 participating in a local poker run, passed through the parking lot of the Ellyson Mortuary as Michael's family stood solemnly in front.  Given Michael's passion for riding and participation in this event in the past, it was a pre-planned event.

We were extremely honored to have members of the Gilmer County FD, Gilmer County Sheriff Mickey Metz, FD Capt. Martin Hess and a 92 year-old WWII veteran who's name, I'm sorry, escapes me right now, and his daughter Lucy, stand with us through the majority of our 3  hour flag line for visitation services.

Upon conclusion of services, we re-established our flag line as Michael's family and friends exited the Mortuary, maintaining it until his remains were loaded for final transportation to Troy.  A very slow, somber journey of approximately 15 miles ensued until we arrived at our destination.  Due to the remote location and somewhat hazardous roadway leading up to the cemetery, we chose to remain at the entrance, paying our respects as the procession made its way up the hill, after which we quietly departed and went our separate ways.

Many thanks are due to Terry Ellyson, Michael's cousin and owner of the Mortuary, SGT Dan Baldwin, CAO from Fort Knox, Sheriff Mickey Metz, FD Capt Martin Hess and all members of the Gilmer County FD/Rescue Squad for their assistance and great co-operation in ensuring everyone's safety and comfort during this mission.  Thank you's also go to George and Pat from Mt. Pleasant, PA, Jack Garrett (PA RC), Rick (WV RC) and Nikki Gifford, Gary Gaskins (WV RC), Mark McCorter and his daughter Robin from MD and Paul from Charleston for attending this mission on such short notice.  I know some of you had made plans to attend the Send-Off for the 821st EC.  Your last minute change to pay Honor and Respects to Michael and his family is truly appreciated.

Finally, a special "Thank You" to Michael's family for allowing us to attend his final services.  It was an honor for each of us to be a part of your lives during this tragic time in your lives.  May God watch over each of you during this time and guide you with His healing mercy.

Thank you, Michael, for your service and dedication to your country, your family, friends and community.  You shall never be forgotten.  God Speed.
Respects,
Joe
