I visited the airport yesterday and talked to the director about our intentions to welcome these troops home.  He was already expecting a visit.  The whole area is anticipating our participation.  We laid out  a nice plan to show these troops our excitement about them returning.   At this time, a "Day" has not been confirmed.,  He does know they have stopped flying missions over the "sandbox" and are preparing their equipment for transport back to the U.S.  We should know a day this week, that is, should.

For right now:

Staging has been secured at:

Peaches Restaurant
265 River Road
Wheeling, WV 26003

Date and time will be posted the minute I know the information.

Have made contact with local LEO's for escort to the airport, which will be about a 15 minute ride.  PLEASE, make sure any flag is securely attached to your bike, as not to create a road hazard.  This has been expressed by both LEO's and especially the airport director.  Double check your rigging.

I will post anything as soon as I get it.  Thanks for your patience and be ready.  The local community is excited about us welcoming home their family members.

*******************************************************************************

I have been in contact with CW4 McClure of the 150th Army Aviation Battalion here in Wheeling.  He has informed me that this unit will be back on WV soil at the Wheeling/Ohio County airport somewhere between July 24 and July 27.  The exact day is not known, however it will be in this time frame.  Our participation is greatly anticipated in welcoming home these soldiers.  Many of you attended the deployment for these troops last year.  They have been gone about 15 months and we are looking forward to seeing these brave men and women returning.  The staging area and time will be posted as time draws near.  Keep an eye on this thread for updates.

                                                                                                        Thanks,
                                                                                                         Ron J.

My husband is one of the soldiers that will be returning home with this group. I have to say I was very impressed the day our unit left to see all of the flags & motorcycles pull onto the runway. It was one of the most impressive & patriotic sights I have witnessed. We are THRILLED that you are going to be there upon their return to welcome them HOME!!!!! We are so thankful & blessed by your patriotism and support. I look forward to seeing you all in a couple of weeks!! Thank you so much for supporting our unit! Sheri McAninch =)

I was there when the 150th AAB was sent out, what an experience it was. I promised some there that I would be there to welcome them back. I will make every attempt to make good on that promise. The earlier I get confirmation the better the chance of my making good on my promise.

WELCOME HOME 150th AAB and thank you for your service!!!!!!!!

To clarify any confusion, the "Peaches Restaurant" is the "old" Lighthouse Restaurant on north River Road. It's now closed and there are no facilities at this area. However, there is a small gas station a few hundred yards south of the staging area. Please make note. Ron J.

Hello To the Patriot Guard Riders,
I am CW4 Bob McClure and I would like to thank you ALL for your support in welcoming the 150th back home. I must say that I think you ALL are a wonderful organization, and I am HONORED that you will be participating in the return and welcome home of our troops. We salute you for all you do for our soldiers. Probably one of the saddest days of my life was the days I watched this (my) unit leave and was unable to go with them. The day they left, was a sad day for all. This unit has been away from home for a long time, by the time all is said and done will be about 20 months. I wanted to let everyone know that this is a tremendous group of soldiers and they are a tribute to themselves. It was a long journey, with many hours of flying over enemy territory and we lost NO soldiers, or aircraft. To me this was a testiment of their professionalism and courage. JOB WELL DONE. I could not forget the send off that you all gave these soldiers, I will personally never forget it and I know they will not either. SO what better way to end the trip back to Wheeling, being escourted by the Patriot Guard. There are a lot of people in this Country that could learn a lot about Patriotism just getting to meet and know you all. You are true Americans. Thank You.
To the 150th, countless number of prayers were answered, we thank God for your safe return. You ALL set the standard for others to follow. Be proud of your service, and what you accomplished.

I love you guys, WELCOME HOME.
