Itinerary Up-Date

 

1st LT Christopher N Rutherford, 25, Newport, OH

 

Rally location at 4:00PM:

 

Frontier High School, 44870 State Route 7, New Matamoras, OH  45767

 

We will have a mission briefing at 4:15 and be in the flag line at 4:30PM.

 

 

Services:     Frontier High School

                     12 July 2007@ 1730hrs (5:30pm)

 

Located on SR 7 17 miles North of Marietta, Ohio. The school is on the riverside of the road directly on RT 7; difficult to miss when you go by.

 

Interment:   Immediately following the Service at East Lawn Memorial Park, 27880 SR 7, Marietta OH.

 

The cemetery is 16.5 miles south of Frontier High School just outside Marietta.

 

Speed limits are up to 55 MPH on SR 7. I expect the funeral procession will travel slower, however if you fly a flag on your vehicle please be sure it is well secured.

 

We will stand a flag line outside the school entry and ride in the funeral procession.

 

Final arrangements are still being made, so more details will be given at the mission briefing.

 

Make sure you bring proper clothing, water, and your 3x5 flags.

 

I hope we are able to have a large PGR turnout to honor our fallen hero. Please travel safely!

We have been asked by the Family to stand a flag line outside the school entry and ride in the funeral procession as well. So please if you have a flag you can mount on your bike or car do so.

The assigned Ride Captain for this Mission is Rick Gifford, of WV, please follow his instructions. Make sure you bring proper clothing, water, and your 3x5 flags.

I spoke with the CAO and Mr. Rutherford this evening.  I explained to Mr.Rutherford what it is that we do. He has given us the Honor of being there for Christopher and his family and community.

 

Please, keep yourselves posted to this thread for Itinerary up-dates. To clear up any confusion, this is the Newport,OH by Marietta, OH.

 

It was and Honor to talk to Mr. Rutherford please show your support. Your condolences will be of comfort to him and his family.

DoD Identifies Army Casualty

The Department of Defense announced today the death of a soldier who was supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom.

            1st Lt. Christopher N. Rutherford, 25, of Newport, Ohio, died July 2 near Balad, Iraq, of wounds suffered when an improvised explosive device detonated near his vehicle. He was assigned to the Forward Support Group, 19th Engineer Battalion, Fort Knox, Ky.
