We, too will be there in spirit due to prior medical appointments. To the family of our hero, no words can express how we feel, but know that you are in our prayers, and the sacrifice of your dear loved one is deeply appreciated. When I look at my 5 month old grandson, I thank God for all our brave men and women who are making a difference in his future. Our hearts are reaching out to yours and we hope that it will comfort you in some small way. Jim and Deb from Ridgecrst CA

Once again, brothers and sisters, it was an honor. Sgt. Blanco was sent to his reward with respect and love and his family knows that America cares.

By the way, check out channel 7 news out of LA, they did a piece on today's mission. Oh, and don't forget to buy your Time magazine in the next couple of weeks, too.

Brothers and Sisters, David here, I was driving the blue truck at Sgt. Blanco's mission. As a combat veteran from both Desert Storm and Operation Iraq Freedom, I now know that the sacrifices my brother's in arms and I made were not in vain. I want you to know that it was my honor to fight for you and my country and would do it again without hesitation. Thank you for what you do and for allowing me to join you. I will be standing by here in CA. awaiting orders.

Scooter,

I just wanted to pass on my thanks again, on behalf of the Army, for you and your teams magnificent support in honoring SGT Blanco and his family. As I stated yesterday, I was unaware of the service you all are providing…but now, have a real appreciation and respect for the way you all have organized….and the manner in which you go about paying a final tribute to our fallen warriors. It was by any measure inspiring and I’m grateful for your dedicated and faithful service in support of these solemn events.

God speed and best wishes to all of you. Call anytime that I can be of service to you or your comrades.

Very Respectfully,

Walt Davis

Great job, Danny, on your mission and your report. I know there is concern over media attention at a mission. In this case, though, the Times people were there to feature the PGR as a group, not in the hopes of Phelps and his spawn being present. The PGR is a growing organization as it is an outlet for Americans to show their patriotism, love of our country and our military. If it takes media attention to get our name out there, for all of America to learn of our great organization, then I am all for it. I, too, agree that a mission is not the time or place for a photo shoot. Yet the family agreed to it. Their son will be honored by America through the resulting story. Even with the media present, you all adhered to our mission statement, and paid honor and respect to Cpl Blanco, his family and his community. Thank you all for being a part of this mission.

"My wife asked me, today, if Phelps ceased his protests at these funerals, would the PGR disband. ABSOLUTELY NOT. I, for one, am so looking forward to the day when we no longer have to even think about nuts like him and can direct all our full attention to honoring these heroes..."

Well said Uncle Bob.

During the interview - The question of Phelps was being pressed.

And I firmly interrupted and stated:

"The motives or backgrounds of the protestors makes zero difference -

Who they are or where they come from makes zero difference.

No one group has the market cornered on protesting...

But as long as there are heros to be honored -

And/or families to be shielded -

There will be a PGR..."

(Sorry for the spelling - Damn johnnie walker blue...)

Thanks, Danny Flucke

It's hard for me to write on this subject....I'm just not a eloquent as most of you. I thought Chief and FatBob said it very well. I'm so proud of how everyone conducted themselves. Every mission is different and we never know what to expect. Chief is doing an exceptional job leading us and coordinating the miriad of constantly changing details throughout each mission.
I was the one who expressed some concern at all the attention our organization has been getting lately. I hope my fears are ungrounded, but I do worry that so much attention is being focused on us that our existence could be perceived as a distraction from what is most important...the honor and respect for those who gave the ultimate sacrifice for our liberties. It's not about us, and I'd hate to see such a good cause weakened by a flood of people who are looking for the next "cool" biker social event to join. I hope I'm wrong.
In a strange way, I guess it was that "nut case" Phelps's antics that caused the PGR to to come into existence in the first place. My wife asked me, today, if Phelps ceased his protests at these funerals, would the PGR disband. ABSOLUTELY NOT. I, for one, am so looking forward to the day when we no longer have to even think about nuts like him and can direct all our full attention to honoring these heroes.

Both Vince and I appreciated the opportunity to stand shoulder to shoulder with Patriots of our great country, Veterans and non-veterans alike, to honor a fallen hero. The thanks from the the Blanco family, friends, Soldiers and Veterans for our participation was well worth the small effort on my part to attend.

All too often the sacrifices of our servicemen and their families go unappreciated and taken for granted. While I am not a veteran, I was raised by a proud WWII Vet that took his family to every Memorial Day parade and ceremony at our local National Cemetary (L.I. National in NY, where he is now buried) and taught us to honor our military men and women and their sacrifices. I do this with my family every year to this day, most recently attending the West Coast Thunder Rides and ceremonies at Riverside National.

My Dad was infuriated by the way citizens of this country treated our returning Veterans from Vietnam and he would be proud of what the PGR is willing to do to ensure that the honor of our men and women that have given their lives to preserve our freedoms are not denegraded in any way. I was so thankful for everyone involved that none of the "uglies" showed, but was prepared to do whatever was required to shield the family from suffering any more as a result of the actions of a few a$$holes.

Being my first mission as part of the PGR, I was truly moved by the entire experience attending Cpl. Blanco's memorial service. God bless him and all the others that have gone before him and those that continue to serve.

It was great to meet Danny, Scooter, StreetCrusier, Uncle Bob, Trash and the rest of the men and women of the PGR, as well as The Legacy Vets MC that attended.

While I idealistically hope that our services are never again required, I am realistic and am prepared to support whenever I can.

I am honored to have been given the opportunity and served with pride...

...and will do so again.

FatBob

P.S. Danny, you handled the media like a pro and the Channel 7 report , though brief, showed the PGR in a good light. Well done!

Ride Report For Cpl. Joseph A. Blanco Mission:

It was sunny, crisp, and clear on Tuesday, April 25th, 2006 – Your SoCal PGR honored Cpl. Joseph A. Blanco – At the gracious invitation of his sister Candy Blanco…

In spite of the mid-week date and the unfortunately busy mission schedule – 21 PGR members stood together in remembrance of Cpl. Blanco – 6 on their first mission…

The PGR formed an honor guard detail to greet the Blanco family – And at the request of the family - JD and I rode point behind the hearse in the motorcade for the 12mile trip to the internment service…

Three times I was approached by veterans in attendance – Who were curious who we were and what we were doing.  All conversations were wet eyes moments as they thanked us – And Cpl. Blanco’s uncle – A retired army veteran and HD rider also requested more information on joining the PGR…

Channel 7 news showed up – Hoping for a story based on information they had received about protestors staging at the burial site.  We simply reviewed our mission objectives – And our possible courses of action – To assure any protestor event would be reduced to a non-incident…

Channel 7 seemed disappointed the protestors never showed – The family seemed relieved – And thanked us for making our presence known – Since they felt it may have caused the protestors to not show up.   One young lady said she felt somehow safer – And knew that he [Cpl. Blanco] was riding and standing with us.

While trying unsuccessfully to keep my emotions in check – I thanked them on behalf of all PGR members – For allowing us to honor our fallen hero – And for sharing their memories of Cpl. Blanco with us…

Time magazine sent a reporter and photographer – To cover the mission from staging to conclusion.  With the blessing of the Blanco’s – And permission from PGR National – I was curious to see how the events would unfold.

One member mentioned how it could negatively affect the PGR by attracting “wanna-be’s” into the membership – Somehow making it “kool” to be in the PGR…

But most members felt it was a great way to reach other veterans and patriots who would like to support and honor our fallen soldiers – But still have not heard of the PGR…  (Just as Cpl. Blanco’s uncle…)

Even with the hectic mid-week mission schedule –

All PGR members should be proud of their brothers and sisters in attendance –

And eternally grateful to Cpl. Blanco for paying the ultimate sacrifice –

For our country –

And our freedoms…

Thanks, Danny Flucke – aka “03Chief”
