The mission yesterday was awsome, I was fascinated and impressed by the level of friendship that I saw among a the group. This included those of us who were strangers. None were strangers, all were welcomed. The familiy and friends of Specialist Johnson and their reactions showed me just how important this type of support is. By profession I am a Clinical Social Worker and have done some grief work in the past. This was a wonderful example of support.

The effects of this mission on the riders well, I can only say I was not the only one with wet eyes.

Bless you all who went, Bruce and Kelly for all the hard work that went into making this go smoothly.

Kelly, "You Have Mail" I only ended up with 12 pictures from the start of the ride.

MISSION COMPLETED-Spc. Ty J. Johnson, 28, of Elk Grove, CA., and Sandy, UT.

Spc. Ty J. Johnson ended his heroic tour of duty 4Apr06, in Kirkuk, Iraq. He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 302th Field Artillery Regiment, 101st Airbourne Division out of Ft. Campbell, KY. He was KIA by an IED that destroyed the vehicle he was driving.
Services in Utah were held  12Apr06 in Midvale, a south suburb of Salt Lake City, and he was interred in the Midvale City Cemetary. The skies were dark and tears fell from the heavens the morning of the Mission and several members felt those tears as they rode to the staging area. PGR Members came from all over northern Utah, and Wyoming to honor this fallen hero.
As we departed the staging area and headed for the funeral home, the heavens began to clear, and while waiting for the trip to the cemetary, the skies became an intense blue and we had to shed some of the protective clothing we had worn earlier in the morning. I felt the weather was an indication of the sadness in heaven being manifest at first, and then that changed to a rejoicing and happiness as those gone before greeted Ty home.
At the funeral home, we were privileged to meet family members, all of whom thanked us for our presence and spirit of respect. But NO ONE will ever forget a dashing man in uniform (Ty's father-in-law) carrying in his arms a very young lad with bright red hair across the street and to the parking lot where we staged, and seeing this lad sitting on some of the PGR bikes! Although he could not express himself, one sensed that he knew something very powerful was taking place. And again, how will we ever forget Ty's sweet Mother standing with courage and resolve at the gravesite and singing both verses of The Star Spangled Banner!
37 PGR Members were present for the Mission. I know that all left a part of themselves at the cemetary, and I know that we all took something with us of Spc. Johnson, his family, and his heroic service to his country and the fight for Freedom.

REST WELL, SPC. TY J JOHNSON, YOU PERFORMED YOUR DUTY WITH HONOR AND BRAVERY, AND WE WILL ALWAYS HONOR THE TIME WE GOT TO SPEND WITH YOU!!

It was our humble honor to guard Ty's 'last ride' on this earthly plain.  When I read your post I had the biggest lump in my throat and all of my deepest thoughts and prayers go out to you and Ty's sweet family.  God Bless you in your lost and may He give you peace.

I feel funny asking a favor of you guys when you have already been great. If I am over stepping my boundaries, please let me know.

I would love a few pictures of your ride for Ty. I’m putting together a scrap book for me and my kids. It has been hard for them to see what is happening and hard for me to explain. Even coming from a military family and understanding the sacrifice and risks (My hubby is Navy and my family is Army) I am taking this very hard. Researching articles and gathering information has been helping them see the big picture and reinforces my resolve to support OUR men and women in uniform.

Thank you, all of you again. My respect for all of you grows everyday.

My email is...

Jen and SFC Hetman,

I believe that Tinman (AKA Kelly) will post all of the pics to a website once he's compiled them. Watch the forums and you'll probably see a post with a link within another day or two. I took a few pics and I'll be happy to send them to you, but I highly doubt mine are the best, or most inclusive of the day.

Thanks
John

To Fade and All,
I have just finished sizing down and sending the last of my pictures to Kelly, around 30 of the best I took. He will be adding them in the near future. If anyone wants one or more full 2.5-3.0 MG copies of my pictures we should be able to trace a particular picture to me and I would be very proud to send you full copies. The pictures mean so much and I thank Kelly for his time and efforts in making them available to all. Craig, State Captain.

I put all of the pictures in my on line photo album. I think that I got the address to everyone but if I missed someone then please feel free to email me and I will send you the link. There were some good pictures and I thank each and every one of you for everything you did for this hero.

Fade and SFC Hetman,
Please let me know that you received the pictures. If there is ever anything we can do for you or your family all you have to do is let us know.

I would like to thank all the members who rode with us to honor this veteran. We had people from all over Utah and we even had 1 man ride in from Wyoming.

To all the Men, Women, and Children that accompanied my son to his final rest, I am grateful. Your dedication, commitment and fortitude in this time when opposition to the war in Iraq is fierce, is commendable. As Ty's mom, I know he would have appreciated you presence at the services and offers of comfort to his family. It is with gratitude and humility that I write these words. I have read each and every post and feel comfort knowing that Ty was among an elite group of individuals.
It takes a special person to meet the challenges associated with being a soldier. You are all such fine examples of what it takes. I too have a number of pictures taken before and after the service. I would like to share them with you. Is it possible to send to a central website? I would also appreciate any pictures that you could share with me and my family.
Again, thank you, and God bless you and your efforts!

Respectfully,

It was truly an honor for us to be allowed to show our respect for your son. We were all extremely touched by the way your family came out to talk to us. I think that a certain little red headed man was having some fun with the motorcycles. Words can't tell you just how much it meant to us. I will send you a link to see the pictures. I'm currently deployed over here in the sand so if it doesn't work, please just let me know and I will send you a link when I am back on my own computer. My deployment should be up here before long. My most sincere condolences go out to you and your family and again..........THANK YOU for allowing us to show respect in the best way we know how. Your son is a true HERO!!
