Patriot Guard:
This is the final Itinerary for the Patriot Guard Mission to honor Specialist Ty J. Johnson who gave all on 4 April 2006. It is a go; all contacts have been made.

Services are on Wednesday 12 April at approximately 1300 hrs at Goff Mortuary. The address is 8090 South State Street in Midvale, Utah. The mortuary is located on the West side of State Street. The internment will be immediately following at The Midvale City Cemetery. The address is 450 West 7500 South. It is on the South side of the street. Parking will be at the extreme East border.

Ride Captains: Your Lead Ride Captain for this mission is Bruce “oldgoldstar” Clements, who can be reached on his cell on the morning of the ride (801)550-6040. The other Ride Captain assigned is Kelly “Tinman” Crouse, who can be reached on his cell on the morning of the ride (801)927-7024

Weather: The current weather forecast for Midvale, Utah on 12 April is partly cloudy with a high of 67 degrees; low of 49 degrees; with a 20% chance of rain. Dress warm and comfy, Iron Horses if you can. Bring flag poles & flags if you've got them; flags on bikes would be great. If you’re not on your bike, cars are welcome, bring all the extra flags you’ve got.

Staging Site & Time: From 1030 hrs to 1130 hrs at 145 West 7200 South (Quilted Bear parking lot, there is a big sign out front). This is on the south side of 7200 South. Here is a link to a map to the staging area at this link. This is a link if coming from the North.

Departure: The departure time from the staging area to Goff Mortuary is 1130 hrs. All bikes will present a uniform appearance as we ride from the staging area to the cemetery in a staggered formation. Anyone not able to stage should meet at Goff Mortuary. Please remember that our mission is to respect and honor this fallen soldier and his family. Stand tall and proud as we salute this hero and his family for their great sacrifice!!!

DoD Identifies Army Casualty

The Department of Defense announced today the death of a soldier, who was supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom.

            Spc. Ty J. Johnson, 28, of Elk Grove, Calif., died in Kirkuk, Iraq, on April 4, when an improvised device detonated near his HMMWV during combat operations.   Johnson was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 320th Field Artillery Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), Fort Campbell, Ky.

FORT CAMPBELL, Ky., April 5, 2006— A 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) Soldier died when an improvised explosive device detonated near the vehicle he was driving in Kirkuk, Iraq, Tuesday.

Spc. Ty J. Johnson, 28, of Elk Grove, Calif., was a field artillery surveyor assigned to Headquarters and Headquarters Battery, 2nd Battalion, 320th Field Artillery Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team. He entered the Army in January 2003 and arrived at Fort Campbell in May 2003.

Johnson’s awards and decorations include: Weapons Qualification, M4, expert; National Defense Service Medal; Army Service Ribbon; and Global War on Terrorism Service Medal.

Johnson is survived by his wife Corinne, daughter Kyrstin, and son Rand of Fort Campbell; father, Johnny Johnson, of West Jordan, Utah; and mother, Lisarae Johnson, of Elk Grove, Calif.

A memorial service for the fallen Soldier will be held in Iraq.

I currently live in Roy Utah, and standing by here. I'm from Sacramentio and will be in the area the 16th and 17th. If a mission is held in the Sacramento area while I'm there I request permission from the local PGR to participate with them in honoring Spc Johnson.
