Hi marinedad and welcome, As I'm sure you know the site has had a bit of a problem the last couple of days but it's coming back nicely.
As the information comes in on this mission Chief and Richard do a great job of keeping us up to date. I wish the reason was different but when it's a go I look forward to meeting you in Indianapolis.

marinedad, I guess I could have told you if you haven't already done so, if you click on "forums" "National happenings" Hardbite has a lot of information in PGR...FAQ. Or you can go on down a little to "Regional Forums" and say hi to others in your home state.

Just joined yesterday after reading about your mission in Grand Ledge, MI. Wish I could have been there for that. I would be honored to join you in IN, although I don't own a bike! I spent 11 yrs on Active Duty in the USAF, served proudly in Desert Storm, and now am a single working mom. I look forward to joining you all to render a final salute to our heroes. God bless you all. ~Kat |

Thank-You Indiana! I have found a couple of contact's that will
let me know if a mission comes up. I did find out my cell won't
have reception but I am only 10 miles away from getting my
messages. If I don't hear, I will make contact next week.
Thanks again,
Silverbeard from Michigan

When I first joined on here, was told; "We don't care if you come in a bike, van/truck/car, roller blades or skate board". The PGR welcomed me with open arms as they welcome anyone.

Hi Everyone, There are no further updates at this time. We are still looking at a week out for this mission more than likely. I also want to welcome all new members. We've had a lot lately. We will all be very proud to serve beside you anywhere, anytime! I had to share with you an email I received from an individual recently. I know each of us are are members of the Patriot Guard for many different reasons, and we all share many common bonds... Love for our past and present soldiers; upon invitation we show our appreciation to any fallen serviceman/woman by paying Honor and Respect to the soldier's family, friends, communities; and the list goes on. This post will be long enough the way it is, but I wanted our members and readers to view what this one person had to say in their personal email to me. I have noticed there have been many visitors on this site, so I can only guess her email is indicative of hundreds more, wanting to do something, but just not sure how to take that first step. Please read:
"hi i dont know what im supposed to be doing all i know is i strongly believe in what this wonderful group of people are doing...... i would love to be one of the people standing there holding a flag for a family and our country i just dont know how to get started into everything..... i live in cincinnati ohio. i honestly wish i could go over there and hug every soldier over there and just let them talk but i cant so the next best thing would be to do something like this........ id do the pen pal thing but i dont know how to get it started either...... my cousin just joined the airforce and i am proud of her...... could you please tell me how i can get started in helping.... im just another single mom with a big heart for what we have in this counrty! Thank you for your time!!!...... GOD BLESS YOU!!!!!"
I wanted to post my reply to her because as I said above, many more people are probably in the same boat as she is, wanting to do something, help out somehow, but unsure as to how to take that first step. I left her name off of this post, so I'll just refer to her as "K" for right now. I'd say she's already taken the first step (as many others have), and I thank her from the bottom of my heart for writing. I hope this post will help others to join or get involved. It's a fact that many want to participate, they just don't know how to set the wheels in motion. Remember, we welcome all those willing to stand and serve beside us whether you're a registered member or not. Only have the desire to be there with us.
Hi K,
Thank you very much for contacting me. Our missions serve to pay Honor and Respect to any fallen soldier and his/her family; they also help us show our appreciation to all the troops; but they are also a healing process for us as well. You mentioned wanting to hug all of them over there. We do, too, and you’re right, this is about the next best thing we can all do. Your heart is definitely in the right place. We would LOVE to have you join us! You don’t really need to join the Patriot Guard to attend our missions, but by becoming a member you can post your thoughts and prayers to our soldiers and their families, or reply to other member’s posts. You can become a member and not post anything if you’d like. It’s very comforting knowing in your heart you are doing the right thing when the time comes. These missions do change one’s life forever. I wish everyone would write to me and ask me how to join or become involved with the Patriot Guard Riders. Veteran or not, 2 wheels, 4 wheels, 18 wheels, pogo stick, skateboard, snow skis, train, or plane, we don’t care out you get here, Only that you came.
1. All you need to join is go to our site: www.patriotguard.org
2. Click on “Register” in upper right-hand corner
3. Fill out information ( * indicates required fields)
4. Click on Register down at the bottom, and you’re done!
You’ll be sent an email confirming membership into the PGR. You may want to save this message in case you forget your User Name and Password. That happens a lot to some of us "middle-aged” guys sometimes! lol.
Once registered, go back to the Patriot Guard site and click on “Log In”. Enter your name and password, click on Log-In You’re now on the Home Page as a new member! Congratulations! Now you can view or post to any mission. In the individual threads, say the Confirmed Mission for Specialist Antoine McKenzie, you can checkmark a box which will automatically forward you replies and updates as they are posted into this Forum. A very nice feature on keeping updated, but watch out… your mailbox will be overflowing at times, especially when the mission draws nearer. If you don’t ckeck mark the reply thread you will have to keep checking on updates yourself by entering the site and reading every post. K, I sure hoped I have helped. I didn’t intend on writing this much but I figured if it helped one person to join us, then it was worth it. Please feel free to write to me ANYTIME! I may not be able to reply very quickly sometimes, but I will always return my messages. I can’t thank you enough for your kind words above. We are getting our message sent all over the world, and it is people like you and us in the Patriot Guard that are making a huge difference in many American’s lives. Some in this country may not agree with the war, but we should all stand behind our troops. Please post to our members into the McKenzie Forum/thread or email me if you have decided to become a registered member. It is reassuring to the members, as well as to the families of soldiers who read our words, to see how one person such as yourself brings such comfort to a soldiers’ family, friends, and communities. Take care.
Sincerely,
“Chief”

Thanks Max! I just want to say this is the best thing and most important thing that any group of people can get together to do. Our son just joined the Marines and we are so proud of him - of watching all the young men graduate boot camp, and the pride that just makes us stand and bawl is just so overwhelming. We just went to a parents' pitch-in last weekend and the number of young men and women who are coming, going, getting hurt, etc. - listening to the stories - learning that these people are putting themselves 100% out there for us - for this country - for our children - means so much. They don't make any money - they are doing this in their hearts. The very least we can do is show our respect when one comes home to rest. The very least. We will stand by and be so greatly honored to join on this mission. It is a great honor and we consider it to be a privilege to be a member of PGR.
In October, there is going to be a Support Troops Rally at the Indiana War Memorial for all to come out - we were told they will feed the coverage live to Iraq and the Pentagon. It is in the planning stages right now (waiting on football schedule to be posted) - but we plan on being there - standing proudly!
thank you. |

Chief,
I wholly agree with your response to "K". Having lost a son over there in 2003 I can assure you and all PGR members and others that what you are doing is indeed a "healing" process for me and these other families involved. Attending these fallen heroes funerals has been a great help for me, just seeing that others care so much. Meeting with some of the families has also been a big help too. If I can be of any help to you, in anyway, let me know. I am retired and have lots of free time to invest in this very worthwhile cause.

Thanks Terry. I have your email address, and you know I'm not afraid to use it! lol. I'll also forward it to cowgirl when we learn further information on this mission should she need assistance with staging. I know each of these missions have to be extremely difficult for you, yet in some way refreshing in the sense that they let you and other families of our fallen heroes see there are those you've never met before who overwhelmingly share in your loss. You are a great person, father, and patriot. I'm so thankful we've met, and know we will continue serving together for many years in the Patriot Guard. I look forward to seeing you again, as well as all our other new and previous members.
