| Prayers and condolences are offered to the family of Spec Clevenger. This young man is a true hero. His ultimate and unselfish sacrifice will be remembered always by our grateful and deeply indebted nation. I understand what you are going through, as I lost my son in Iraq about a year ago. I hope you will find some comfort in the support of family, friends and strangers. I pray that eventually, happy memories of your dear Ross will help to ease the pain you endure today. Your hero will not be forgotten, and neither will you-you will remain in the prayers of so many. God bless you. Julie Francis, Matt's Mom |

Thank you for your service and sacrifice in defending and protecting our freedoms. As a nation we mourn your loss, and we will remember you always as a true American hero. To the family, I offer my prayers and support. I understand a little of what you are going through-my son, a Marine LCpl, was killed in Iraq. I pray wonderful memories of your dear warrior help eventually to ease the pain you endure today. Your hero will never be forgotten-he leaves a legacy of honor and courage that few will ever achieve. God bless you. Julie Francis, Matt's Mom |

Heartfelt condolences to Spec Clevenger’s family and friends, and to the entire 321st Engineer Battalion (Corps) (Combat) (Mechanized), headquartered in Boise. While the other casualties, per the referenced article, Private 1st Class Raymond M. Werner, 22 and Sgt. James Holtom, 22 will likely have their own mission blog, this battalion needs to be held up in prayer!
Spec Clevenger, thank you for your service and protection of our nation and my family … a grateful nation needs to pause. I trust you are at rest in God’s loving Hands and your family feels His comforting touch. Rest well young warrior.
Standing by in Utah,
Dave Frederick, UPGR
Just noted the 'others' under the pending missions ... none the less the 321st has lost these 3 members, our prayers are with that Battalion as well ... |

All concerned -
Wanted to bring you up to date with what is
happening on the Sgt Ross Clevenger mission. (Ross was promoted to Sgt
two weeks prior to his passing.) Services at 1400, Sat, 17
February, at Marsing High School, with interment at the Hillcrest
Cemetery at 1600. The family has requested that the PGR escort the
procession from the high school to the cemetery. More details to follow
as they are available. As soon as I have confirmed a staging area and
time, that info will be posted.
Thanx to all for joining with us
as we honor the memory of this son of Idaho, and his family. He has
joined so many others from generations past to the present in defending
and preserving our freedom. To Ross' family, we salute you and serve
you. We mourn with you...... |

My heart goes out to the family of Ross... I had the pleasure of spending 2 weeks with him in Fort Lewis for Warrior Leadership Course. I remember Ross well, he was a hard working selfless soldier. He took great pride in his service and being an Engineer. I think the moment that stands out the most about Ross to me was during a tactical exersice he had injured his ankle to the point where he could barely walk. I was deamed a casualty by the cadre, and had to be carried out. Ross, although injured assisted in carrying me up the hill to our collection area.
He will surely be missed. Attached are two photos of Ross, one with his classic smile, and the other, with less of a smile, only because he carried me for about a quatermile uphill in the rain with a bad ankle.
Engineers will always lead the way, Ross you will be missed.
Respectfully, Sgt Fisher 822nd MP Co.

Thank you for the mission you gave to your life in protecting our freedoms, and striving to give others, theirs. The lives of you and the men and women who have gone before you are raised high, and not given in vain. I honor you, and pray that our children will learn to do the same throughout coming generations. God bless your family, and may they keep their memories alive and rejoice in the life of a hero.

Funeral services for Sgt Ross A Clevenger will be held at Marsing High
School, Marsing, Idaho on Saturday, 17 Feb at 1400. Interment will be
at Hillcrest Cemetery at 1600 (or immediately following services). The
staging point for the mission will be at the KMart/Shari's Restaurant
parking lot just off of Exit 33 on I-84, at 1200. The PGR's
involvement will be to escort the procession from the high school to
the cemetery, and afterwards to form a tunnel of flags through which
the procession will drive as they arrive at the cemetery (cagers and x
number of bikes will be excused ahead of time to form this cordon). Directions to staging area: Coming
from the West -----> Take Exit 33a (Nampa/Marsing) NOTE: This exit
does not appear on most maps, as it is a newly constructed exit. Head
south over the overpass. The exit ramp will "Y" at the top of the
overpass; bear right onto Karcher Road. Go through the signal at the
bottom of the overpass. Travel a few hundred feet and turn right into the
KMart parking lot and backtrack to Shari's Restaurant. Coming
from the East -----> Do NOT take the first Exit 33 ramp off of I-84.
Continue UNDER the overpass and exit there. Bear right at top of exit
ramp, over the overpass. Continue as above, to KMart and
Shari's. Kickstands up at 1230, at which time we will proceed the
approximate 15 miles on into Marsing. Once arriving in the city of
Marsing, we will stop at the City Park to "flag up" (flagging up at
initial staging area could result in lost flags because of highway
speeds), as well as a last minute pit stop. NOTE FOR TWIN FALLS
AREA RIDERS: We will stage at the Flying J Truck Stop north of town at the
intersection of I-84 and Hwy 93, with a departure time of 0945.
NOTE FOR MOUNTAIN HOME AREA RIDERS: We will stage at the Walmart
parking lot off I-84, with a departure time of 1100. I
have been in contact with the Casualty Affairs Officer and ISP, and
they inform me that uninvited guests have not made known their intent
to participate and are not expected, but we need to remain vigilant to
the possibility. By way of information, I have also been in
contact with Mr Jack Harp, Director of the Boise Valley POW/MIA
Association. He has informed me that his organization will be in
attendance and stands ready to assist the PGR as needed. He did relate
to me that in past events, they have requested flagholders and I
assured him that we would be happy to join ranks with he and his group
in that endeavor. I would encourage PGR members to welcome these good
men and women into our ranks as we honor Sgt Clevenger and his family.
For logistics, would like an idea as to how many bikes to expect; upon
receipt of this notice, kindly advise me offline at
LeiserBunch9@yahoo.com, and let me know if you are planning to
attend.
My thanx to those who have graciously offered assistance and
performed details behind the scenes for me as I have put this together;
this certainly is not a one-person event. "It takes a village" to
put a mission together. Your actions have not gone
unnoticed. And thanx in advance to those traveling great
distances to honor this Idaho son; I wish you safe travels as you join
us. Respectfully - |

I start to write this and realize that it's so easy to just block my feelings and not acknowledge how special Sgt Holtom must have been and why I am writing this. With it being this hard for me I know I can't fathom the pain you must be feeling. No words can take that away. I guess what I feel would help, at least some, is the knowledge that people do care and that my loved one would not be forgotten. The sacrifice all of you have given to protect our homeland and freedoms is appreciated and will not be taken for granted. My heart goes out to you. I truly wish I were able to be there to honor you all and hold our flag.
